Audeze LCD2 new leather headphone band

Sorry to seem silly, does the "one piece drop in" solution mean the plastic blocks are permanently fixed onto the band?   In the picture of the leather headband (http://audeze.com/sites/default/files/a1.png), it looks like Audeze still uses 4 x screws to connect the band to each of the left...

Audeze LCD2 new leather headphone band

I've been wishing for a leather band ever since I received my set of LCD-2, finally!   Just one question before handing over the cash..., I read from Audeze's site that the leather headband's blocks are plastic, will the aluminium blocks fit in their place?

    SPL Phonitor Impressions Thread

Quote:   Paring with a low 36 ohms SE530, the Phonitor is unusable. Audible humming can clearly be heard even when the volume dial is set to its lowest setting of -80.   Couple with the 40 ohms ATH-W5000, there is the tiniest but audible hum when the volume dial is turned to 0 (with...

Audez'e LCD-2 Owner Roll Call - list your serial number here!

Quote: Don't want to mess up a nicely ordered list with a vague S/N#, but wanting to increase future prospective owner with some confident by reading of yet another happy owner... My S/N# sits near halfway between dwh91307's and xo0's, I got on the list on 14 July, and arrived 18 Oct.

    SPL Phonitor Impressions Thread

I would hope the changes are cosmetic than because of functionality. I won't be surprised by the thought that some _audiophiles_ may find the blinking lights to be too distracting (... what?!)   I personally prefer the warmer orange glow with those ever flickering LEDs...   A black face...

    SPL Phonitor Impressions Thread

It is refreshing how different the Phonitor looks in a flat black face plate and minus the handles.   I have seen a couple of Phonitors with different coloured backlit VU meters, as well as without signal and overload LEDs built in. I wonder why SPL has made the changes?

Beyerdynamic to launch new top headphone at IFA -- called T1

A quick thumb through Phonitor's manual... THD @1kHz0.005%... 1.7W @1kHz and 600ohm connection... looks like I'm finally running out of excuses...

    SPL Phonitor Impressions Thread

75 deg & 4 cf (i.e. 60 deg in Phonitor Manual) setting is to simulate a 2 channels setup where the distance between left and right speakers is approximately the same distance as they are from the listener - I.e. 60 deg Centre is the hardest to judge, for me -1.2db is closer to a flat stage...

Has anyone pulled apart a Yuin PK2?

Ahh, found something similar: PK-1 Deconstructed, why am I not "that" surprised someone has already opened up a Yuin! Thought it will be interesting if it'll fit inside another shell...

Has anyone pulled apart a Yuin PK2?

I'm in the midst of debating whether to purchase a pair of PK2 and transplanting the drivers into a battered pair of Sony MDR-E484. I've found E484 shape to be the most comfortable earbuds for me. And being encased in cermic shells, I also find E484 to be the least hollow of the earbuds I've...

Is the ATH W1000 better than the HD 650?

Don't actually own a W1000, but did have it on loan for 2mths. It has a warm sound, a little harsh at the top end, struggles a little to keep up over complex passages and bottom end extension is not as well controlled - but that is comparing to a W5000. Unless the preference is for a closed...

The Sennheiser HD 800: The First Listen, The First Review

The "ring transducer" is rather interesting. It may be a rarity in (dynamic) headphones circle, but how is it that far remove from a phase plug setup? Examples in commodity setup are Logitech Z-5500's satelite speakers, (I'm sure) Klipsh were doing it quite sometime ago as well...

High quality mini to mini cable necessary?

It's a case of diminishing returns. The more you spent the lesser you get back. Shielded Radioshack is actually quite respectable comparing to the Cardas, iChord. Having said that, cable from the shack definitely misses some sparkles in the higher frequencies. The biggest upgrade in my chain...

    Mahler Symphonies Favorite Recordings

4th isn't exactly my favourite, in fact it tends to get skipped by my play list. But the opportunity to listen to a performance in the local concert hall last weekend can only have one outcome. Play list: 4th, Kubelik/BRSO(1968) on repeat. :>

Shure se530's, its been 2 weeks and I need more oomph

IEM takes some getting use to, especially the fit. I was so disappointed with the etys in my 1st week, then I found the sweet spot. I just got a pair of SE530 and they are definitely not bass-shy when fitted properly. The shure is the warmest and has more bass quantity, which makes a nice...
