FATfreq Impressions Thread - Bass Cannons and More
Well as a basshead it was...necessary lol. My thought process was hey the 7Hz Legato hits pretty hard with the 12mm unit in there and can easily handle an 8dB+ lowshelf in the sub-bass frequencies. The 12mm unit in the Aurora is probably at least equal to the one in the Legato, but tuned for...- Trae

The 7Hz Aurora sounds better to me after EQ. I basically Auto EQ to crinacle target leaving everything below 300Hz alone, 7Hz Aurora set to the same target but with a generous lowshelf, and the 7Hz Aurora just does everything better imo.- Trae

7Hz Impressions & Discussion
Stock Aurora vs stock Legato...lol let's see. The Aurora stock is hard for me to listen to. If I didn't know about EQ, they'd get returned. Although very resolving, they are bright and those peaks are fatiguing. Stock, the Aurora doesn't sound that natural to me. The Legato is almost the...- Trae

Aurora is basshead approved. The 12mm DD can handle a large lowshelf while still keeping really good detail and distortion-free impact. The planar is very fast and resolving, large soundstage, pretty good imaging. Not a fan of stock tuning, but I usually never am as my preferences are pretty...- Trae

MOONDROP X CRINACLE DUSK NOW AVAILABLE
Well even the wavelet Bass eq sounds really distorted with medium-high volume, and the low shelf is a 6-7dB peak tapering down to +0dB at 200Hz. I thought it was clipping, so I lowered the gain -10dB and tried again. Same thing. Not sure what the problem is, but these definitely can't handle...- Trae

Analog out of Topping G5 4.4mm Quick notes- pretty detailed, the BA mids sound pretty good to me very accurate. Very good imaging, airy but confined sound. Sounds a little thin to me, but I'm also a basshead, so keep that in mind. The Bass+ eq sounds the best to me, really puts the warmth in...- Trae

MOONDROP X CRINACLE DUSK NOW AVAILABLE
Ahhhh these can't handle bass boost instant turn off  Will be posting to classifieds soon-ish. Wanna compare to Aurora when they come in. Otherwise, they sound pretty good. You'd think 2x 10mm drivers can move some air when boosted, but not in this configuration. It sounds like they're...- Trae

MOONDROP X CRINACLE DUSK NOW AVAILABLE
If I'm buying a product internationally, especially from China, I don't even consider returns or warranty because it just isn't worth the hassle. It sucks, but that's just the way it is. Chi-fi is a risky endeavor, but there are things you can do to protect yourself. My advice for chi-fi stuff...- Trae

Yeah, the peace addon to equalizerapo gives you a bunch of different filters and a visual parametric equalizer to really dial it in. Guipeace is on GitHub and it exports and accurately converts peace profiles into something wavelet can use. As far as the preamp goes, you can actually use the...- Trae

MOONDROP X CRINACLE DUSK NOW AVAILABLE
Well, it isn't as simple as "It's insanely easy to drive." Everyone has different ways of listening to their music. For example, I'm a basshead, and these will require a large shelf in the sub-bass to get it where I like it - larger than what crin thinks I need lmao. For each db you add, you...- Trae

I generally don't have anything against the cable as some people will use it out of convenience I get it, but for someone to say, "Hey use this $10 dongle for a $350 iem to get the most out of them," has to be an April fools joke 😆- Trae

Crinacle should just offer wavelet profiles for people to use, but I'll fix it lol. That dsp cable breaks compatibility with basically every amp, and the little amp in that cable probably isn't that good either.- Trae

FATfreq Impressions Thread - Bass Cannons and More
I'm really eyeballing the Scarlet Mini as an upgrade to my modified Legatos, but between the delays, the cost and my gut telling me that my legatos will perform closer to the scarlet mini than the cost justifies, I'm torn. Anyone want to loan me a pair for a week to help me decide lol- Trae

7Hz Impressions & Discussion
As a basshead, I'm interested in it. If that 12mm is anything like the one in the Legatos, then it can move some serious air. Personally, I'd like to see a dynamic for sub-bass, planar for bass to lower treble and EST for treble.- Trae

Ah that makes a lot of sense because my right ear has always produced more wax than the other. Maybe I'll try tuning these without the filter installed to rule that out for good.- Trae
