Good IEM's for around $100 - $150?
Quote: Absolutely not. The HE-400 is a full size headphone and is a planar. The UE triple fi 10 is an IEM. It will outperform any IEM unto $400 (there maybe different views here but it will be among the best). The HE-400 needs a dedicated amp. Any decent full size headphone will outperform...- sberamji

Review: Sennheiser HD25-2 with the SAA E-Series cable
The stock cable is made from steel. That severely degrades the sound and hence changing the cable makes a huge difference. For a cheap upgrade just use the HD650 cables on this headphone and it will improve as well. And for those who find the HD25 uncomfy due to their tight grip wash the ear...- sberamji

Review: Sennheiser HD25-2 with the SAA E-Series cable
This is a review of the Sennheiser HD25-2 along with the Stefan Audio Art E-Series cable. Well, my quest for the holy grail of audio started years ago when I first bought myself a pair of ALR-Jordan floor standers. At that time I was a novice and did not really understand audio but since...- sberamji

Good IEM's for around $100 - $150?
The Etymotic ER-4P was one of my favourite IEM's. The problem was the fit and the cable noise. I have not tried any other IEM from Etymotic but do check out the fit. I would not buy the Klipsch S4. Total rubbish. It has no real resolution and sounds like a slightly more refined version of some...- sberamji

Good IEM's for around $100 - $150?
Get the ultimate ears triple fi 10. Save up. Its hard to get a good all round earphone below 100 bucks! They all favor certain genres. If you absolutely have to have one cheap go with the Sennheiser CX300B. They are cheap (<50 bucks) and are decent all rounders.- sberamji

Try the Grado igi. If you can extend your budget to about $170 get the ultimate ears triple fi 10. They will outperform many headphones upto $400.- sberamji

The Apex High Fi Audio Arete is now available!
Quote: Well no. 1 I have nothing against TTVJ or anyone making the amps. No. 2 noone is asking any manufacturer to sell at cost - the DIY example was used just to show what can be achieved at different price points since we know how the CK2III, M3, PPA and B22 perform at their...- sberamji

The Apex High Fi Audio Arete is now available!
I just dont understand why these amps are so expensive. It looks like everyone is trying to milk the headfi market these days. It uses a blue alps potentiometer and simple mosfet/jfet layout. It comes with a switching power supply as well which once again shouldnt cost much. The end result is an...- sberamji

REVIEW: Decware Select Zen CSP2 Tube Headphone Amp
Question to Skylab and the rest of the headfi community, I just ordered a CSP-2 to go with my Audio Technica W1000X headphones. What tubes would you recommend? Also was the CSP-2 a good match with the W1000X? Also how can I get the best bang for my buck i.e. should I upgrade the rectifier...- sberamji

Reply to review by 'sberamji' on item 'Audio Technica ATH-W1000X'
What amp did you test the W1000X with? Also would you recommend the Woo 6 or the Elekit tube amps? I own a W1000X and it can get extremely bright and hard with amps that are slightly hard sounding. Maybe you could validate this finding sky so that future W1000X owners keep this in mind.- sberamji

Senn HD600 sound problems and chow it compares to the HD650 please help
I recently purchased a HD600 and am using it with a Meier Concerto amp. The headphones are brand new and Im sure they would benefit from run in but had the following questions- 1. Closest 'Phones to T1 for $300?
Just had the T1. the DT880, HD800 and the HD600 at my place. The T1 sounds like a refined DT880 but it still has it's own character. That is it improves on the DT880 on every aspect like extension and resolution but adds its own character, specially in the lows (which I find unnatural compared...- sberamji

REVIEW: Meier Audio Concerto headphone amp
I ordered a Concerto from Meier Germany 10 days ago but the DHL site still shows that it has not yet arrived in the US. How long does it take for the Concerto to arrive from Germany to the US? Any experiences other than when the volcano was erupting:)?- sberamji

AUNE Headphone amp + DAC Review
Yes I did try the AD in the DAC section and the OPA627 in the amp section and yes you are correct. That combination did give me the best results. With the AUNE I cannot stress how imp it is to have dual opamps. This is the BIGGEST difference that I consider an upgrade. Changing opamps changes...- sberamji

HD800 and T1 musings...
Sky and others, What are your impressions on the following: 1. How long did you run in the T1's and what changes did you see? 2. How long did you run in the Concerto and what changes did you see as well? 3. The Concerto has a large capacitance bank. Hence do you see any change in...- sberamji

AUNE Headphone amp + DAC Review
How does the LM4562 sound as an opamp? What is the character? Yes, I still maintain that the 2134 is the best bang for your buck as far as the AUNE goes. I do not like the 2604 at all. Sounds like a radio:) I think using 2 mono versions of the 2134 should do the trick. This opamp was developed...- sberamji

Amp for under 200$ matched with Beyer 800 32 or 600 ohm cans
The M stage is a copy of the Lehmann Linear amp which I did own and in my books was a lousy amp for $1200. Had it been sold at $400-$600 it would have been good value. Anyways, the m stage looks decent enough but please keep in mind it will not sound like the Lehmann. Just copying a design will...- sberamji

Amp for under 200$ matched with Beyer 800 32 or 600 ohm cans
There are no specs as such. But here is what you can do: Concepts - 1. Low impedence headphones (approx any headphone < 100ohms) need current to be driven properly. HIgh impedence headphones need voltage. You need to understand voltage and current first. Think of a hose pipe of...- sberamji

Amp for under 200$ matched with Beyer 800 32 or 600 ohm cans
Look for a used creek obh-11 for $100. Thats the best at that price! Otherwise save and buy an old war horse like the musical fidelity xcan 3 used for $250 if it comes on sale.- sberamji

Deal Alert!!!! Beyerdynamic T1 B-Stock
All these headphone sellers are playing everyone. The T1 originally was launched at a price of $990 and due to demand the price went up at $1300. By selling it at $990 headroom is just selling it at its older price. I absolutely hate it when they advertise something at price X and then one finds...- sberamji

HD800 and T1 musings...
How long do you have to run the T1 in for and what changes do you see? I am finding my T1 to be very contolled and boring. It is probably my cheap amp (new concerto is on the way:) but I was just curios regarding how these headphones responded to burn in. Also how fussy are the T1's with...- sberamji
