The Beat's by Dre and the Audiophile Agenda

Here's an interesting article regarding the Beat's by Dre but also comments on the audiophile prespective in general. It's an interesting read. Thoughts?   http://pitchfork.com/features/resonant-frequency/8757-permission-to-avalanche-four-fragments-on-bass/

    Monster Turbines a mistake?

The Brainwavz M2 look very promising and are considerably cheaper. Being a college student I don't exactly have the means by which to buy a pair of $200+ of headphone. So to answer your question I'm not willing to go too much over $100. All in due time. Again, I thank you all for your responses.

    Monster Turbines a mistake?

Quote: Yeah that's what I'm finding, the clarity just isn't there. And though I do like bass, the bass these offer are not as defined as I would have hoped. Any recommendations as to which ones I should swap for my turbines?

    Monster Turbines a mistake?

Thanks for the responses. They seem to responding well to my iBasso. Under the "Gain 2" switch the mids are really brought forward. Not sure why I didn't realize this since I use this same setting for my M50's.

    Monster Turbines a mistake?

Was I expecting to much? Perhaps, often is the case when reading reviews and impressions on here. Anyways, my question is simple: Is it worthwhile returning the Turbines in favor of another pair of IEM's or is this just about the extent of the sound quality at this price point (< $100)?

    ATH-M50 vs. Shure SRH750 DJ's?

Good choice. The M50's are becoming overly pervasive here. A little diversity never hurt.

    Alternative to ZUNE HD

Quote: Not unwilling. Just been out of commission for a bit. As for those who are curious as to what route I've taken, seeing as how I already dropped a couple hundred bones on the ZuneHD I'd be hard pressed to drop another couple hundred for a completely new player, so I've begun the...

    Alternative to ZUNE HD

Quote: I've fallen in love with the clarity and depth of .flac   I just can't compromise sound quality.   The J3 looks like a nice compromise between sound quality and aesthetics ;)   Thanks to the both of you for the recommendation.

    Alternative to ZUNE HD

So I've decided that I want to buy CD's and convert them to FLAC myself. This is a bit ambitious and expensive, who knows if I'll actually do it.   Anyways, I absolutely love the ZuneHD interface and would hate to part with it. Doesn't play FLAC files though so I kinda have to.   Any...

    console gaming headphone set-up

Unamped I use my M50's. I eventually want to save up for a mixamp and DT880 set up. I heard that's one hell of a gaming eargasm.

Is it easier to spot differences in SQ when upgrading or downgrading?

The changes may be subtle and gradual, but once you go back to a lower fidelity rig all those changes will be made brutally apparent.

    Shure SRH240 vs SRH440

Quote: Grado's originally. Not the headphones for me. Then Shure 440. Not the headphones for me. Now the M50's. A couple of mods later: I'm in love.

    Shure SRH240 vs SRH440

If bass is not an issue than sure. By all means go for the 440. Lack of bass was a major complaint in my book. They have a very accurate sound. Almost lifeless.   I say pull the trigger. You'll appreciate your next pair of headphones more so after having experience the 440's.
