    FiiO K9 Pro Hi-Fi DeskDop DAC&Bluetooth&Amplifier,XLR/RCA/4.4/Optical/Coaxial interface

Just gotten my unit of the K9 pro. My impressions is that it drives my HD800s really well. Prior to the K9, I was using the ZEN DAC & ZEN CAN stack. On that stack, I always turn on truebass thinking it's a necessity for open-back headphones to get more oomph. Interestingly, I need no EQ of sorts...

Great headphone sound? It’s in the CAN! iFi audio ZEN CAN!

I noticed the balanced output on the back of the ZEN CAN, may i know what purpose is it built for? and does the volume rocker control the balanced output at the back? thanks.

Whoop! iFi ZEN DAC wins EISA 2020-21 Best Value DAC award.

Congrats. I have the Zen DAC and they are exceptional. Its an engineering marvel that it does not need external power supply, I hope more products in the market can do the same.

    Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!

You can trust me on this, my head is small, and I have leakage on the front and back of my head. I listen mostly to pop songs and outdoors, I use the momentum true wireless (a bassy monster). The ifi zen dac's truebass function fills in the missing sub-bass of the HD800s nicely for me. I have...

I have the ifi zen dac, I use the analogue bass boost and find it complements the HD800s very well, you might want to try before giving up on this excellent pair of can.

Great headphone sound? It’s in the CAN! iFi audio ZEN CAN!

You will need something like the iematch by ifi to decrease the sensitivity. On my pure silver cables, there is audible hiss on my iem.

Great headphone sound? It’s in the CAN! iFi audio ZEN CAN!

I tried both outputs and can hardly hear differences on my hd650 and hd800s. But im using RCA in to my CAN, i'll need to try 4.4mm input to see if there's more improvements.

Great headphone sound? It’s in the CAN! iFi audio ZEN CAN!

I bought from here https://sgaudiohive.com/collections/allegro/products/allegro-interconnects?variant=28066173485136 There are few variations of the cable material, i option for a basic one because i feel its just a short IC.

Great headphone sound? It’s in the CAN! iFi audio ZEN CAN!

I am expecting difference between RCA and balanced input. Otherwise what's setting a balanced AMP apart? I'm still awaiting my local maker for a custom 4.4mm to 4.4mm interconnect, it certainly is a niche cable at this time.

Great headphone sound? It’s in the CAN! iFi audio ZEN CAN!

I would like to ask what are the sonic differences between using the RCA vs 4.4mm balanced input? Is there sonic upgrade if i connect RCA in to 4.4mm headphone out, as opposed to unbalanced out?

iFi ZEN DAC discussion + impression

Just gotten my stack, ifi Zen DAC and ifi Zen CAN yesterday and had some good listening. Im using HD650 and I must say it pairs quite nicely. Actually the Zen DAC itself is already quite good, differences between DAC & CAN out is small. Oh remember to try the GTO filter, quite a lot of...

Unique Melody Mentor debut in Tokyo e-earphone festival

Definitely improves the sound, as compared to stock cable. Stock cables are too thin, resulting in loss of signal along the way. But if I could choose again, i'll pick a pure silver cable with TRRS termination. The mentor now sounds very balanced to me, as mentor is slightly V-shaped in...

Unique Melody Mentor debut in Tokyo e-earphone festival

I have the mentor with the SD and another silver cable, in all honesty and as per mentioned in the ZX2 thread, I don't hear much of the TRRS termination sound improvement. Plus the SD is SPC on the ground end, not totally silver, still, the mentor is one excellent iem which houses 10 drivers in...

    Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!

Yup, really there isn't such a thing as "High-Res" audio. A sony digital player at $200 has that sticker as well. I have a Sony ZX-2 which also has the sticker, it means nothing. There's a bunch of good audio equipment not tagged as such.   On a side note, a predecessor-successor comparison...

Have been awhile since im on my TRRS balanced connection, here are my thoughts similar to that of the Electrical and Design Engineer for the ZX2.   Source: http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0315/Interview_Yoshioka_Sony_NW_ZX2.htm

For IE800, u need to totally remove the existing cable and recable the whole thing, it won't fix or look the same again, probably for the better given how the cable has stiffening issues.

Not to say TRRS has no improvements, but its really minor. Many of the members here praised TRRS connection when they previously only had the stock cable. Most of the improvements they have heard, are perhaps 80% from the silver cables and 20% from the TRRS plug. But as with every cable...

I use a Unique Melody Mentor. The silver dragon is good at its price, good customer service, fast shipping and delivery of product upon ordering, really like no other 3rd party cable manufacturer, but the SPC ground does come off as a con if anything, still, a silver cable of that thickness (26...

One cannot categorize a DAP as sibilant, we have got to be rational about this. A iem can be sibilant because it functions to produce music and certain frequencies may have unwelcomed spikes, but a DAP is just a device to transfer digital codings into actually voltage signals to the iems, if...

Managed to listened to the Fiio X7 with my UM Mentor. The difference between X7 and ZX2 is the depth, the ZX2 has quite noticeable more depth to the sound, allowing vocals to be a step backwards and instrument to have its place within the depth, the X7 sounded bright, more in your face vocals...

Are all TRRS plug a straight one? I haven't seen a right angled TRRS plug, which I would need given how the ZX2 slots into my pants, a straight plug would be too much pressure on the solder.
