AirPods Max
I tried getting a custom profile, but luckily I don’t seem to have any significant hearing loss - in the 2-4khz range -4dBs. So maybe also a reason why I prefer Balanced Tone. Then again, I never thought the JH13s needed tweaking.- sebhuber

AirPods Max
Thanks to this thread, I found out about the Balanced Tone setting. I don't know if it's allowed to post here, but I've written my first review in 10 years. https://inoads.com/articles/2020-01-08-APM- sebhuber

I think this is related to the "sound check", have you enabled this feature? If yes, try turning it off.- sebhuber

EarSonics SM3 Appreciation, Discussion, & Review Thread - Technically Best Universal? (see first post for reviews and info)
Sorry I can't read the whole thread. Has anyone been able to compare the JH13s to the SM3? I know this is an apples vs oranges comparison, but it seems to preform very well.- sebhuber

Head Direct REO vs Etymotic ER-6i
LOL @ the avatar, I agree though, the isolation is okish. Not on par with etymotic though.- sebhuber

AKG K450 Headphones
Do you need any isolation, if not, I'd recommend the MS-1 for this music. The reason for this is that the sound is more airy due to the open design.- sebhuber

Head Direct REO vs Etymotic ER-6i
Here is another option: hf5. I really hope they'd fit in your pricing scheme, as IMO they are great IEMs. I prefer them over the RE0, because they have a thicker sound and they are very accurate. They have superb isolation, I dare to say unbeatable, but on the downside have a smaller soundstage...- sebhuber

AKG K450 Headphones
You cannot compare apple and oranges. The k450 is a closed on-ear heaphone, with some decent SQ. Its very upfront and in your face, but in a different way than the grado sound (or to some extent the ms1s). Now if you want portable, sturdy, non-source dependent and good sounding headphones, get...- sebhuber

JH Audio JH16 Pro First Impressions
IMHO, now you are just letting him off. I know he tries very hard, but the constant repetition is more than enough. Hence, this is not a low blow, merely a wake-up call on that there are other headphones, other people and a variety of different opinions here on head-fi.- sebhuber

@googleli, try printing JHXX on there, which makes others think that it is a prototype. This would be way cooler than either 16 or 13!- sebhuber

JH Audio Customs: Why doesn't Jerry fill the inside with silicon?
Apperantly the empty shell has the benefit of giving you tactile feedback, which enhances both your listening experience and your perception of the soundstage. I don't have a direct source for this, but I read it somewhere :P- sebhuber

[REVIEW] Starkey SA-43, JH 13 Pro, JH 16 Pro
Just the slight bass emphasis on the bass, which changes the overall sound presentation to get more of a 'feel' for the music. Rather than being better, the jh16 is a side step (from the general notion that ive gathered around here)- sebhuber

Review by 'sebhuber' on item 'HEAD-DIRECT RE0 In-ear Headphones'
I really enjoyed the RE0 for a while, but the sound was lacking bass. This happened if it was not driven properly out of the uDac or any other amp. Straight out of the iPod, there was something 'off' and it wasn't natural. The RE0 doesn't go particularly low. On the other hand, the highs are...- sebhuber

Review by 'sebhuber' on item 'JH Audio JH13 Pro Custom In-Ear Monitors'
Music I enjoy most at the moment: Fleetwood Mac, Mike Oldfield, David Bowie, Gipsy Kings, Cat Stevens, Tom Waits and America. I will be basing my review on the JH13s on one track of each band/artist. The Package To be honest, the package was fairly disappointing. Other than an Otterbox, I...- sebhuber

JH Audio JH16 Pro First Impressions
When I used my 13s for workout sessions, I rarely had trouble with sweat. It only becomes a problem when there is a loose seal, where the sweat can travel through. When that happened to me, I just wiped 'em off and didn't use them for the rest of the session.- sebhuber
