AEON, MrSpeakers' New Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphone
Hello, I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation of a transportable case for the AEONs? I have tried the official hard case, but it requires me to detach the cables and reattach every time. It also does not have some sort of ring which I can use to hook it to a carabiner to my bag. For...- charpi

AEON, MrSpeakers' New Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphone
Any recommendations of DAC/amps for a transportable rig? Most suggestions I see here are for desktop/home use. I heard that the Mojo pairs well with the Aeons, any other suggestions? Thanks! Edit: Currently I'm using an iBasso DAC/amp, will any other combinations do much better?- charpi

Shanling M1: An iPod Nano Competitor / DAP || USB DAC || USB Transport || Bluetooth 4.0 + aptX || DSD
Thanks! Good to know that the M1 can be used to stream all sounds instead of just a certain app. In my currently setup (mobile phone -> CIEM), when I am listening to songs and I get a phone call or text, I hear the ringing/notification and can respond to it. Previously, I was using a dedicated...- charpi

Shanling M1: An iPod Nano Competitor / DAP || USB DAC || USB Transport || Bluetooth 4.0 + aptX || DSD
Hey guys, I've searched much of this thread but would like to clarify 2 things: 1) We can pair it with a phone via bluetooth and all the sounds from the phone can be streamed through it? (E.g., even notifications, phone calls, sounds from games, etc., i.e., this pairing is non-app specific)...- charpi

Ok maybe this is a dumb question but are the Ether C Flows foldable or compactable to be put into a messenger bag? For example, How do you guys normally carry your Ethers around if you commute light everyday? (Can't wait, I'm getting the C Flows with a Mojo next month with my paycheck )- charpi

Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7
Hi, I'm looking for a headphone to complement my IEMs and I'm considering this but I have a few questions. - How is it with and without an amp? Does it make a big difference or can I drive it with a phone? I'm thinking I might get a full Sony combo of this and the PHA3 - Does balanced make a...- charpi

Haha thanks for your recommendation. Hmmm, maybe I'm not looking for that portable (I mean, since the Rendition 1 isn't that small). Maybe another DAC the size of the Rendition 1 would be fine? I guess I should say "transportable". Thanks :)- charpi

Hello, thanks for everyone's advice. I'm probably going for fiio x3 -> DAC -> Rendition 1 -> 8A haha. Any suggestions for a good portable DAC for this? Also, any impressions of the Rendition 1? They seem quite rare at the moment. Thanks.- charpi

The Wizard Appreciation Thread - Long Live the Wizard - The former HA Appreciation Thread
I saw the Heir Audio website for their customs that there is an option for Wizard to help us design my CIEMs artwork and design? To be honest, I think that that's a great idea for me, however, I was wondering is it possible to give any specifications to the design (such as maybe, let it be...- charpi

Hahaha, after such a long time without browsing headfi regularly (I occasionally peak a bit) after I got my JH13s 4 years ago I'm finally back now that my 13s died on me :( Really interested in Heir Audio, especially when I'm looking for a full transportable setup instead of just a CIEM...- charpi

Looking for customs or a CIEM system like the JH3A or PP6, no price limit, basically want a "end-all" solution. I don't really know what I'm looking for too so I need advice. Here are some of my past experiences with IEMs and my opinions on the different ones I have tried, hopefully it will give...- charpi

Unique Melody Platform Pure 6 (PP6) - review (1st post), discussion, appreciation, & tour thread
Sorry for bumping this. I was pretty cynical about the price-performance value of this product at first, but now I'm warming up to another pair of customs. My JH13s spoilt and JH isn't replying my emails. :( Any reviews/impressions of this so far? (I've only read some camjam ones)...- charpi

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Hi I've asked this in the sansa clip zip thread too. I was just wondering if anyone with a W4r and a clip zip say whether there is hiss on it. Also, just to confirm, cables don't really cause hiss right? I plan to use aftermarket Lune mkII cables from Null Audio for my W4r. So does...- charpi

Awesome post! Ex-UM3X user but switched to customs. Now that they are spoilt I'm considering switching back to Universals and the 4R seems like a good choice :)- charpi

Nah, that was just a tongue in cheek comment. Guess that doesn't convey well through the internet. Seriously though, can't wait to try these out and decide between these and the 3A.- charpi

Ah, was going for the 3A, now staying put for this and see what happens first. Why can't they just add an SD card slot and a screen to this, and tout this as the first active crossover DAP :D- charpi

List of DACs that work with iPad
I also believe that the DAC is used to for the same reasons...that the CCK only supplies digital out. A bit of hiss at higher levels for me. Slightly better than stock iPad out with the JH13s. I guess the word to describe it is "precise". All my music sounds more precise with it, piano...- charpi
