5 simple reasons why J-Pop is awesome

I've always treated J-Pop as more of a "guilty-pleasure" kind of thing. The only Japanese music I've liked for a long time was from the Pillows. Everything else I've listened to basically fell in the category of "love it for a few days, then get bored of it". I'll be sure to check out some...

    Cheap Portable Speakers

I'm going to spend a semester studying abroad in Helsinki, and I need a pair of cheap, portable, USB powered speakers. -They need to fit in my luggage(average size). -<$50. The TSA in LA is notorious for stealing electronics, so I don't want to risk losing expensive speakers. -I have a...

Sennheiser PX 100 vs. Koss Porta Pro - The Ultimate Thread

I voted for the px100's for 3 reasons: 1) Comfort: The px100's have head cushions, whereas the Porta-Pros do not. The Porta-pros also had a problem with my hair, which doesn't happen with the px100's simpler design. 2) Portability: The px100 hard case>the portapro bag, imo. Don't have to...

Spent more money on audio gear than music?

I spend way more on music than on gear if I only count the stuff I bought. I think my total gear equipment sums up to about 300 or so. Around $150 on headphones, $150 on source+amp. My cd collection is at least $500. That plus an ongoing Rhapsody subscription takes way out of the 300 range.

How do you transport your headphones

I've been thinking of this myself lately, as I have to fly back to school once summer is over. I'm planning on getting a rubbermaid container, putting some padding on it, then stuffing it in my luggage.

    Cheap Isolation

Yeah I'm using the stock tips. They isolate at least 20 db or so. Anyone know how much the other cheap IEMs that advertise noise isolation like the Altec Lansing UHP 206 and Jbuds? I just assumed they didn't isolate as much since the Marshmallows use foam tips and they use silicon.

    Cheap Isolation

I have a pair of Sony EX-36's. They would work with the Comply T-400. Would this really give me more isolation than the Marshmallows? I'm fairly impressed with its isolation already, but isolation is such a great thing that I just want as much of it as possible.

    Cheap Isolation

Besides etymotic ER6i's, are there any IEMs that isolate better than JVC Marshamallows for under $70? I'm amazed at how much noise it cuts out. If there's something even better I'd be happy to upgrade. Preferably something bassy.

    Noise canceling recommendations.

If you decide to get the anc7's make sure you get them at $120 or less. Right now, because they're discontinued, they're really expensive. Also, try to get the ANC7b's, which are the new version. Personally, I would just get a pair of good IEM's. My $14 dollar pair of JVC marshmallows isolate...

    JVC-HAFX300 in the house

Could you please tell me how the isolation is compared to the JVC Marshmallows? From my experience, all of JVC's headphones are insanely comfortable, and if these isolate better than marshmallows(difficult to imagine, since they use silicon tips), I might consider getting them.

    Cans that need little/no burn-in ?

Here's my experience: When I first bought AD700's, was a little disappointed at first. After a few weeks, liked them alot. I thought: "wow, burn-in sure makes a big difference." Sold them because I got HD600's. A week later, I missed the AD700's so I just bought them again. Listened to...

    AD700 Replacement Pads

Has anyone bought replacement pads for the AD700's before? I'm wondering if the pad includes the cloth mesh that covers the drivers, or just the pads only. If someone has a picture of the replacement pads, it would be greatly appreciated.

How many heaphones do you have? And why?

I don't know how many I have, but it's probably around 7... If I could cut down, I would ideally have just 2 pairs, one for home listening and one for portable isolation.

    Closed Headphones for College Listening

Keep in mind that different open headphones have different amounts of leakage. Grados, in my experience, are the kings of sound leakage. I had a roommate with a sr60 and when he used it, everyone in our dorm could hear what kind of music he was listening to. Any other open phones should be fine...
