From someone who regularly uses a sony x walkman, I can't complain too much with the sq from the SGS2. Poweramp is a must imo, it sounds a lot better than the stock player.

As our precious sony X's are to us and getting increasingly difficult to obtain a replacement, make sure you buy a silicone cover for yours. Even if you think you don't need one it's just one slip of the hand and it could be gone forever. I know it's saved mine a couple of times. I'd be lost...

I'd be in there swapping out the battery for a higher capacity one. No way would I let my X become a paperweight so readily. 

The sound from my sony x series walkman through my d2000's is quite remarkable. Lovely, mature and refined, it's almost as good as my home x-can v8p v-dac rig. Plenty loud enough for indoor - garden listening, very very good match imo. 

Sorry you don't like the X fella, but you really ought to sell it on as there are still people who are looking for one. It's sound isn't hyped up, those of us who appreciate a refined subtle sq love it.

Still here on and off.   Mine was bought on the week of release so that's well over a year, it still puts a smile on my face when I switch it on. Sure it has it's faults but the sq more than makes up for them. Used 99% through the car hifi I'd be screw** without it.

Those Hong Kong £10 ebay  line out dock jobbies work a treat, they sound exactly the same as the sony cradle dock. There so good I bought two.  

My sony x is called "Werz megizmo", The damn thing keeps going walkabout.

Does the line out cable bypass the volume controls?

It seems people aren't feeling the love with the V8P, no idea why it isn't more popular because it's an incredible amp for the money. The sheer amount of detail compared to my LD MKIVSE is no match, the V8P is so much more revealing.

Just a quickie to get motivated for some proper summer build action. In my previous build the dock was mounted in the center console, after a while having it in that position became a right annoying pain in the arse so I've moved it. The end. Old position. New mount.

Who needs Walkers? Long live Golden Wonder. Full bags back then too. Cryptic yes, but the oldies will understand. Pics of a new car docking station I made coming up later, this one's much easier to use.

Mine hisses too, it's very quiet and doesn't increase with the volume knob. It's only just audible when nothing is playing. Whacking on a cheap 5amp transformer helped, done wonders for the sound too.
