I also updated xmos usb dac driver from their site too. I mainly use on PC and I was apparently on a pretty old development build.

I tried the VC briefly with my D5 but generally find the D5's amplification somewhat under-powered. I keep my D5 as a DAC (along with my SPL Phonitor XE) and it's in this configuration where the VC really shines.

How come Headamp doesn't release a full spec sheet for this amp? Skimming through @skedra 's (very nice) review above, and having read some other write ups it seems odd that specifics aren't available for an amp that's been around a while.

Same here, but to be honest from what I gathered from the website is you get the extra cable if you buy one of the premium upgraded cables. I didn't upgrade my cable so I just got the Japanese OFC cable with my order which is what I was expecting.

Been using mine daily since Jan 09 (v 1.4 / Amazon) and love this unit. Using both DAC and AMP from PC with some grado GS1000 and couldn't be happier. Maybe one nitpick; the volume knob feels like crap. Would be nice if it was a bit higher quality. Overall satisfied with D5.

Just checking in (almost 11 years later) with an update; I've long since re-cabled my GS1k years ago but otherwise they're perfect. Recently switched to Sabaj D5 DAC/AMP combo, these headphones are great. Here to another 10+ years.
