No idea about the first version but sonic pearl 2 is one of the best amp i have ever heard with hd800. Fast detailed and not disturbing... I strongly suggest to try this amp before buying something more expensive.

i am using 600 ohm version for classical music for a while. and i pretty like it. (especially when i compare with grado rs1 ). certainly it sounds cleaner and more sterile by considering 250 ohm version. also tube amp. synergy much better than other dt880s but still i feel some harshness...

i solved the problem. i was copied wrong licence file @dabustard people say musiland 02us better than emu 0404 even asus xonar, so i believe for under 150 dollar,the best choice is musiland 02us.

actually many of dt880 users choose silver. but i believe 600 ohm version is more aggressive than the others. (i tried 250 ohm version).h is there any user who re-cabled 600 ohm dt880?

i do not know the reason of the change. also i can't say thats great improvement but with mkiii, dt880 sounds boomy and i feel with resistor gets more controlled. maybe if an expert user check this out and tell the differences,it can be much more useful.

yes no source amp combo can change sound sig. but certainly helps to show full potential. i mean while i was using my grado rs1 with mki+ headphone amp, sound was thin and bright. after i get a tube amp, now its really airy and much more controlled at high freq. especially for grados...

i bought him mkiii and musiland 02. both of them came to me without any problem. because of some custom problems shipping time is more than two weeks for mkiii.

source quality is really important for grado rs1-2 series. sadly sometimes driving a lower impedance headphone is much more harder than higher impedance models because of sensitivity.. i think if you use it with better dac+amp solutions grado rs1 and rs2 simply invincible especially for rock...

actually i believe with musiland 02 sound card internal amp dt880 sounds cleaner than mkiii. that's the reason to try resistor with mkiii. so do you think 600 ohm version has better synergy with mkiii? (by the way i am using mullard 8100 nos tubes)

i have tried it with little dot mkiii. yes difference is not big but something is getting better. sound character gets a bit thin when i compare first but i hear music more lively.

actually i tried it with 200 ohm resistor, and i feel especially with tube amp, sound is more refined and controlled. There is some certain improvements but it seems to get 600 ohm version i need more than resistor
