Super (capacitor) charging your iFi Zen Can (and other zen products and possibly other manufacturers)
I downgraded from iFi iPower X to a cheap 5V 10A 50W brick from Amazon, labelled "Velain". Probably it's no longer available from this brand or seller next week. I noticed no downgrade of sound with Beyerdynamic Xelentos (16Ω, 114db). I noticed more "oompf" with AKG K1000. The K712 benefit...- zappp

Sony MDR-1000X
I assume the integrated amp and NC circuits in addition EQ the (cheap?) drivers. Without EQ they sound bad. Which likely is the reason why most Bluetooth or active NC headphones sound bad in passive mode. When the QC35 was out I was tempted to buy, but in comparison to my AKG K845 they sounded...- zappp

Headstage Arrow HE: Reviews, Impressions, Perceptions & Sensations
It is a one-man-show depending on Asian suppliers. He is a honest man, but don't expect the consistency of service quality from a large distributer. Holidays, sick leave, supply bottlenecks after hyped reviews or forum threads happen. I was early adopter of Lyrix, Arrow 1G and upgrader to 3G...- zappp

Head-Direct RE0 Appreciation Thread
On my first RE0, after several years of service, the casing on one side separated. I wonder whether there is a way to fix it with superglue (or with whatever). And I lost a pair. Fortunately, I had a spare and bought another spare after the loss (used). earphones in travel mode get lost...- zappp

Headstage Arrow HE: Reviews, Impressions, Perceptions & Sensations
Arrow 3G with Sony PFR-V1 is nice. Don't forget to install the foam sleeves on the bass ducts, to carefully (!!!) adjust their positioning into the ear canal and to set bass boost to "II". Still the result is on the lean side, like some faved nearfield monitors, but very acceptable. ...- zappp

Apple TV or Olive O3HD
What are you missing? High resolution digital audio? You clearly say no! Using an external DAC means a good leap forward in sound quality. More storage capacity? There are hacks and ways to upgrade the 1st generation Apple TV with a 1TB hard disk or to connect an USB hard disk. ...- zappp

NuForce Introduces Icon iDo ($249) - Audiophile-Grade DAC and Headphone Amp for iPad®, iPhone® and iPod Touch®
iDo line out to active speakers. Volume control by iDevice or iDO? Analog or Digital? From many sides we hear that with 24bit DACs, digital volume control is acceptable. Resulting dynamic range is still more than good enough for real world recordings and 16bit files.- zappp

Head-Direct RE0 Appreciation Thread
I did not bother to shell a few hundred more $$$ on an other IEM than the RE0, with the eventual hope of getting better or at least more pleasing sound. Two weeks ago on my last flight the cabin cleaners, by accident, took my RE0. I was sad, but with a backup pair of RE0 waiting for me at home...- zappp

Headstage Arrow HE: Reviews, Impressions, Perceptions & Sensations
The Headstage Arrow HE and the old Lyrix Pro both have crossfeed circuitry that is said to be based on a publication from an Swedish engineer, Ingvar Ohman. I don't know about earlier versions. http://www.headstage.eu/Molt_1994_04_SP12.pdf...- zappp

HRT iStreamer - the cheapest way to an audiophile signal from iPod to your amp?
I like the Pure i-20, because the craddle provides firm support to the back of the iPod. You can use clickwheel or touchscreen without bending or loosening the electrical connectors which is a problem with most other docks. I would have liked to see a volume control on the i-20 for use with...- zappp

Headstage Arrow HE: Reviews, Impressions, Perceptions & Sensations
As I wrote two weeks ago I had 1G (from March 2010) and 3G in my hands and on my ears over the Christmas holidays. Heard with REO, HD580, K271, D5000. No systematic "burn-in". It was very hard if not impossible to detect a difference in SQ which is exactly in line what Robert says on his...- zappp

HRT iStreamer DAC video review - a true iPod/iPhone/Ipad DAC!
Carrying Dr J's post forward, the dream combo would be an iStreamer with integrated headphone (and pre-) amp. I am not sure whether I would want to carry that arround with me as portable, battery-powered device. I need "portable" for veranda, beach or on the move (on foot, bus, train...- zappp
