MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

Hi Dan, I recently bought the ether c's, and I noticed for my ears that they just barely touch the inner padding with the stock tuning. It ends up causing some slight discomfort. Does the lack of stuffing in the new ear pads mean that this problem might be exacerbated? Thanks!

    Schiit Lyr for LCD-2 or...?

So, my current main setup is: FLAC -> S/PDIF -> gamma2 -> m^3 -> LCD-2. I also have these other headphones that I sometimes drive with this setup, in descending order of use: K702, SRH-750dj, MS-1.   I'm debating what my next step is in upgrading my setup. I think I'm mainly focusing on...

    So are electrostatics the best?

I'm just wondering why it is that the most expensive headphones appear to be electrostatics? Is it due to its sonic value, manufacturing cost, demand and hype, or a combination of these factors?   I understand that the thinness of the diaphragm allows for higher frequencies to be reproduced...

    Alessandro MS-1 Pads

Well the frames to my glasses are pretty thick - around 1/4". So I can move them up, but it causes my eyes to become tired much more easily due to minor distortion in viewing. The reason why I thought of bowls is because I find other circumaural designs extremely comfortable. I haven't tried the...

    Alessandro MS-1 Pads

So I'm looking for alternative pads for my MS-1. Right now I just have the Grado comfies, but the comfies cause discomfort after prolonged use (~30-45min) due to them pushing on my glasses. So I'm looking at switching over to either Grado bowls or the HD414 pads. Are there any other...

What's the weakest link in my setup?

So, I'm not looking to upgrade anytime soon, but if I do, I'd like to know what I should upgrade first. Here's my current setup:   foobar2000 -> Toslink Optical -> Valab NOS DAC (2009 rendition I believe) -> Unbalanced RCA -> Matrix M-Stage (Second Edition) w/ Class-A biasing mod and...

Can anyone else not stand songs that are channel imbalanced?

I'm not saying that all songs that do this are bad. In fact, I appreciate the effect when it's used in short periods. When a song is imbalanced for the duration of the song though (i.e. one instrument playing in the left channel), it gets kind of annoying. I actually didn't experience this...

    Cowon X7 this summer!

Hmm, the Mac compatibility is a real issue for me. Anyone have final word on that, or was that one reviewer just unlucky?

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.

I had hissing (low level of noise) as well; however, I resolved this by getting an external DAC. Not sure if it was necessarily the DAC that fixed it, but immediately afterwords, the noise was gone.

    Looking for a new DAP

Wrong choice of words on my part. I meant along the lines of minimalistic UI (I do love me some big screens). Quote:

Anyone know why Amazon pulled the pre-order listing?

    Youtube on iphone?

Yeah, iOS automatically downgrades video quality if you're using 3G. The same limitation is applied for some other applications. If you jailbreak your iPhone, there is an application called My3G, which enables you to watch high quality videos over YouTube; it also lets you use FaceTime and other...

    Looking for a new DAP

Quote: The X7 seems to fit the bill quite nicely.   For the Clip+ recommendation, I'm not sure if I can justify the purchase; the Clip+ itself is pretty cheap (~40-50), but a sufficiently sized MicroSD card is pretty costly. So for about $200, I'm getting 40 GB of storage, with a...
