Sound card vs USB DAC?
I'd worry about latency for gaming here. I say that while wearing the Sony WH-1000XM5 (which I love), and not having tried the older (RF?) model.- worminater

It shipped with third person mode, in ship, running about, and god-view during outpost building. I'm ~30h into Starfield and digging it. Much more engaging for me than Skyrim was at launch. I may just be getting old though.- worminater

Outside of COVID WFH when it sat unused on my work desk, my c5d has been in near daily use at work since purchase. Has held up well.- worminater

Receiver as headphone amp
Being broke is a recipe for disappointment, I had just graduated college at the time. No idea why this thread popped up again for me also (Or what I ended up doing 15 years ago...)- worminater

Schiit Valhalla Tube Rolling thread.
Swapping the front and back(left rear with right rear, left front with right front); noise stays (primarily) on the right. Swapping just the back again; noise stays on the right channel. I'm not sure how it funnels through..- worminater

Schiit Valhalla Tube Rolling thread.
Good idea; hadn't considered. Swapping the tubes left/right; still seems to keep right channel with the noise unfortunately...- worminater

Schiit Valhalla Tube Rolling thread.
I have an OG Valhalla, been in happy and reasonably heavy use for the last 3 years or so (average use of 1-2 hours/day over that span; turned off when not in use, some 12 hour binges some weeks where I could barely find time to use). Currently; when I turn the amp on disconnected from...- worminater

Selecting your first turntable setup - Get the biggest bang for your buck - Keep it under $2000
Nice, thanks for the discussion. After some more digging I ordered a **** Mani, and will try and get the vintage LX-510 working on it once everything comes in, worst case scenario I fail and end up buying a new one table to use it with. I may actually bring my Schitt Modi/Mani stack home...- worminater

Selecting your first turntable setup - Get the biggest bang for your buck - Keep it under $2000
'Afternoon. Looking to get a small setup; and my timetable was pushed up by a friends offer of a ~free Sony PS-LX510 in (pretty) good condition; he thought it was in need of a new cartridge but otherwise in good shape. Right now, I have PC -> Schiit Bifrost -> (Existing Switch)...- worminater

https://www.amazon.com/Music-Hall-Driven-Turntable-Cartridge/dp/B001FUF8FQ Seem like a solid choice in the 200-300 price range to get into records? Interested in something to play with while relaxing; but not requiring too much fiddling, something I can reliable veg out with after a long...- worminater

General use earbud with microphone, also for use running.
Not really on either front. She listens to ~every music style depending on what she's doing, and budget doesn't matter *that* much (1 to150 usd probably). Microphone quality is probably more important than peak sound quality (talking to her mother while walking the dog, my M80 tend to have...- worminater
