Reply to review by 'webbie64' on item 'Ray Samuels Emmeline "The Black Bird" SR-71A Portable Headphone Amp'

Congrats on joining the SR71 club. Both the original SR71 and the SR71B also have distinctly powerful and clear sound signatures too. Don't hesitate to try them and compare them to the SR71A sound if you should come across either at a meet. Happy listening.

    Review: JH Audio JH13

Quote:   I agree with Steve...although my experience is different.   Durring the last three years, as my youngest grew from baby to toddler to "Dad, I know eveything now that I'm three", all in combination with a job two hours from home, I found little time to use my electrostats and...

REVIEW : Jaben's GoVibe Porta Tube Amp - Review Thread (ex demo)

Two questions regarding the Porta Tube. 1. Has anyone seen anything indicating whether it benefits from any 'burn in' period and, if so, what was the recommended 'burn in' time? 2. For those that have experienced it, can you make a comment on whether, like some full size tube amps, it appears...

STAX SIGMAS COMPARED, LOW BIAS, SIGMA PRO AND SIGMA/404

Thanks for the update, John.  Glad to see you cherishing the sweet music these phones can offer (particularly when driven as well as from your set up).   "Stax SR-009? Who cares?"?  I reckon you would if you had the chance to try one and compare but, yes, for the extra dollars involved would...

    Review: Apuresound-recabled Etymotic ER4P (revised)

Quote: You're likely to get a variety of opinion and the relevance for you will, IMHO, depend on the context of the advisor. My context is that I have kept my Apuresound ER4Ps as my preferred generic IEM.  I rarely use them, though, having held them for friends or family members to...

We're loaning AND giving away a Go-Vibe Porta Tube amp!

Quote:   Yes, please count me in.  Based in Sydney Australia (please PM me for address when/if it's my turn).   Also happy to add this amp to my impressions of many portable amps over the years (Currently seeking an iBasso Boomslang so I can burn in my SR71B in balanced mode).  ...

    The Stax thread (New)

Quote:   Congrats on discovering electrostatics!   Quote: IMHO the GES will serve you better for your jazz, jazz/folk and chamber music than the modern prog (yes, I do share a number of your musical preferences ).  I think the modern prog sounds better without tubes in the...

    Meier Audio StageDAC

Quote: What uelover said first.  I think it really can depend so much on the synergy of equipment you are using it with, as well as the files themselves, as uelover indicated.   So, for instance, I'm one whose speaker setup seems to work well with Top (Pulse)/Bottom (Oversampling)...

Review: Portable amp roundup! 56 portable amps reviewed and compared - FINAL update 12-20-10 added RSA SR-71B

Quote: X 2   Skylab I have followed your work here for years whilst doing quite a bit of comparison myself when I first joined.  Your consistent dedication to HeadFi and this task in particular will, I am sure, continue into HeadFi legend.   Well done, and enjoy your time now...

And that's before you give some time to trying out the myriad of different configurations   And if you have it hooked up to speakers at some time try the crossfeed for that arrangement - it's certainly been one of my favourite improvements.   Have fun re-exploring your audio collection!

    How to detach LiveWires' cable?

No particular method though I do recall the MCX plugs had quite a grip on mine when I first got them.  They are simply 'pull off' and initially I found a gentle rocking of the plug slightly left and right helped loosen it a bit.
