Loud popping sound? Sounds like my DY2000 when it was inserted in the wrong direction After inserting in the right direction it justs give weak, loud popping sound. A very costly lesson for me, now I learnt to be extremely careful inserting my opamps.

well, there are some china head-fiers selling some usb-spdif device, I might get one to try.
