    Equalizer APO Questions & Discussion

Thank you for your response. There's just one point that still remains uncovered on my end: I can't figure out how to actually flip between devices inside the program, without having to save the preset file onto config.txt (from what I understand from your post, this is what I have to do in...

    Equalizer APO Questions & Discussion

ADUHF, do you know a way to quickly switch between different filter presets ? I'm definitely not familiar with the program enough at this strage, but anyway, it seems like it would only use the settings found in the config.txt file, ignoring any other presets that I create later. I need this...

Help - Headphone for Mastering & Monitoring

I personally am using an arrangement like that in my setup, with one PC as a source (YouTube, in your case) and another PC (a 2nd one) as a general audio station, with all sound sources connnected to it via a soundcard. Well, just for what its worth.

Just a thought: a soundcard with both digital inputs and outputs (preferably Toslink ones) would let you gather all streamed audio in your computer, allowing you to control everything through it. Roy

Help - Headphone for Mastering & Monitoring

I've been playing around with the Equalizer APO for a while now, and I thought I'd share my 2 cents on what I've had found with regards to the subject of mastering and editing with headphones, thanks to the help I've got from people on this thread, especially ADUHF. I hope I'll manage to put it...

    Review: Violectric V800 DAC

Yeah this might be the case, thanks. FWIW, I was talking about a ground lift on my amp actually (an SPL Phonitor), which I didn't notice at the beginning. Roy

    Review: Violectric V800 DAC

Just here to report I've managed to figure out what the problem was and to fix it quickly. I've come across Rane's Note 110 which decently explains some background about such issues, suggesting to add a "ground lift" to the connection. In other words, what I did was to disconnect the ground on...

Help - Headphone for Mastering & Monitoring

ADUHF, thank you for sharing your impressions here. This shows the loudspeaker area is even more complicated than I'd thought ... Although I've figured it'll be best to have a pair (based on the helpful suggestions above), I think I'll still have to read about it some more, be it technical...

Help - Headphone for Mastering & Monitoring

Thank you, I was actually wondering what this module was (I couldn't find its name anywhere), until I eventually closed it and haven't noticed what happened. Being quite new to the world of studio gear, I'm not familiar with what every component is meant to do, and your notes about this...

Help - Headphone for Mastering & Monitoring

Highly appreciated ! - I've spent some time reading the reviews there, and it has quite changed my mind about the speakers I mentioned above, and probably has also saved me money, thank you for that ! Based on Amir's reviews (which like you said, show he knows what he's talking about well...

    Review: Violectric V800 DAC

Hi, I'm an owner of the original V800 DAC. It's not upgraded or anything. I'm sorry for my being a little ignorant, but I haven't had the chance to catch up with this thread throughout the past few years, and according to some random pages I've read here, I've realized there's a physical...

Help - Headphone for Mastering & Monitoring

Thank you very much for all your input. It's helped me a lot ! Edit: Regarding equalization, are you talking about an external analog equalizer, or a PC based one ? Roy

Help - Headphone for Mastering & Monitoring

Thank you, ADUHF. You gave me helpful ideas to think about. I've been considering near-field monitors as you advice, and have found that the JBL Control 1 should be a good option, as they (supposedly) have quite a balanced response, and are cheap. Since I'm all new to the area of speakers \...

Help - Headphone for Mastering & Monitoring

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and info ! The reason I initially focused on those two expensive phones (the LCD-X and the HD800) is that the so called remastering I do, isn't of musical recordings but of private field recordings - lectures, lessons, or old souvenir recordings of this...
