For me, my main use for an IEM/earbud is for portable use. At home I use fancy headphones/speakers with an amp. Also, portability/convenience is the only reason someone would pay extra for earbuds with an iphone mic/remote built in. If they are for portable use, I deem it harder to justify...

Did you end up buying them? I was surprised to see such wide frequency response (wider than my Grado 325is's). I mean I know frequency response doesnt directly correlate to sound quality, but still... Anyways how do they sound?

I mean as with all Grado cabling it is really heavy cable. But the quality is outstanding. I question any claims of sound quality improvement over other, decent adapters but it is nice to use a Grado adapter with Grado headphones...

Oh well. I think the best option is to repurpose an old android phone that im pretty sure does audio out over USB.

Does the Galaxy S support USB audio out? On a related note, does the actual music player on the phone matter if the phone does usb audio out to a decent DAC/Amp? This is assuming the source files are high quality.   Thanks!
