The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
I have seen a few mentions of plans to try driving the 1266s with a Benchmark AHB2, but has anyone tried this combo?- stew1234

Wiring balanced stepped attenuator
Simple question but I can't seem to find an answer. To wire up the attenuator pictured below as long as the two tabs for each deck are wired together does it matter which way the two are wired up since it's just placing a resistor in the signal? Also I'm assuming the tabs I've circled below with...- stew1234

Connecting shielding for internal wiring?
I've looked around at various builds but I wanted to double check that you do not in fact need to connect the shielding when using shielded cable for hook up wire. I'm going to be connecting single ended outputs to an output stage. Some pictures look like the shielding is connected while...- stew1234

1964 Ears
Quote: I recently sent mine in for a refit as well. From pictures I've seen and what I've read I think 1964 Eears likes to make the ear canals longer than most other manufacturers. Purely speculation but mine were certainly much longer than many pictures I've seen. The seal was good in...- stew1234

1964 Ears
Quote: Unfortunately (as I can't put it in my pocket) my desktop's headphone out actually sounds very good with them. I've been using my rockboxed clip with the bass and treble bumped up a few notches which sounds good but I find the small sansa sound stage a bit obnoxious...- stew1234

1964 Ears
I in no way mean this as a criticism but if you're finding the sound of the er4s to best the quads I'd try them with a few more sources. Having used the er4p for many years I love the way they sound and can see how they would sound more resolving and detailed out of a weaker source. However...- stew1234

Just got the Mac Book Pro!
I'm typing on an Aluminum powerbook g4 I purchased in 2005. It made it through 4 years of college with daily use, dropped a few times, traveled with frequently etc. and it's still working just as well as the day I bought it. So going from my experience the build quality works great for me.- stew1234

1964 Ears
I received my quads on Friday. They sound great and I could not be happier. The sound signature reminds me of the HD650's - full bass but very well balanced with the rest of the sound - very lush sounding. The highs sound great, extremely clear without being fatiguing at all. The left ear fits...- stew1234

Common XLR Jack Templates in Front Panel Designer
For anyone who has used Front Panel Designer I'm looking at the various dimensions for some common Neutrik chassis connectors: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=NF2D-B-2virtualkey56810000virtualkey568-NF2D-B-2...- stew1234

Any idea where to find a 4PDT rotary switch?
I have looked and looked but cannot seem to find a 4PDT rotary switch. Does anyone have any idea where I can find one? Preferably it would be a on/off/on switch.- stew1234

How to match resistors
I currently have the multimeter I purchased at radioshack - the no frills $20-30 model. Short of purchasing a much more expensive multimeter is there a good way to match resistors?- stew1234

1964 Ears
I switched my pending order for quads to the soft tips. They received everything on April 11th - delivery next week seems optimistic since I was still able to switch but I'll post with impressions when I receive them.- stew1234
