Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
For someone who the UM3X is pushing the outer ear limits, would the Noble 4 be too large? The thickness looks a little worrying.- sprucemaple

Audio-Technica ATH-ESW9 and ATH-ESW9A Thread
Anyone knows if AT is planning a follow-up to these? Love the ESW9, love the ESW11 when I heard them but it's been a while now and *hopefully* there's something in the pipeline- sprucemaple

Fostex TE-05 Japanese Price, Release Date Announced
Isolation on these are, as expected, pretty awful, especially on the train. I've since switched from the small supplied tips to a pair of bi-flanges (no idea which brand, fished them out of my box of tips), and I do feel that they're a bit more comfortable and isolating. The bass does seem a...- sprucemaple

Fostex TE-05 Japanese Price, Release Date Announced
Had a friend bring them back from Japan for me, and out of the box, they're very nice. Can't say much on isolation because I'm in a quiet environment, but there is noticeable sibilance. The bass is a little more boomy than I was expecting, and this is coming from a pair of ESW9 and UM3X. The...- sprucemaple

NocturnaL Audio Custom Headphone Cables
I reckon it's still a pretty good price even with shipping, considering the build quality and the flexibility of the cable. I don't think the Hydra 8 will be too thick, but perhaps an owner could chime in on that. I've probably used them for more than 50 hours, and I don't detect any...- sprucemaple

NocturnaL Audio Custom Headphone Cables
Got a hybrid hydra 4-conductor for my UM3x. Very flexible, slightly stiffer than the original Westone cable, but it's very well made and the wood sliders are lovely to have. Not a bad option, and a nice price too.- sprucemaple

Audio-Technica's New Multidriver IEMs: The ATH-IM Series
Was in Japan recently, and got the chance to demo the IM-50 and IM-70. While they do sound very nice for the price, I did feel that the IM-70 was a little bass-heavy for my tastes, and they are a lot larger than I expected them to be. Quite a shame, I would have gotten the 50s had they been...- sprucemaple

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**
Thanks for the replies Pretty intrigued by them, I'm looking into headphones because while I love the intimacy of the UM3X, there are instances where soundstaging can elevate and these 400s sound like what I'm looking for. Thanks once again!- sprucemaple

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**
Hi everyone, I'm coming uninitiated into the full-size headphone world, but I've been using my UM3X for almost two years now. May I know what are the major differences I'd be getting from the HE-400, apart from the usual IEM/headphones stuff? Thanks!- sprucemaple

Searching for headphones under $150USD for home use!
Hi, thanks everyone for the suggestions, I'm wondering if a pair of Mad Dogs would be good if I could push my budget? From what I've read, they sound like a dream (: I think I'm narrowing down my search to the HD598, AKG K240 and perhaps the Grado 225i for now. On a side note, what's the...- sprucemaple

Searching for headphones under $150USD for home use!
Hello all, I'm looking for a pair of headphones to be used at home mostly out of a MacBook Pro (2010), occasionally with an iPod Classic (80GB). I don't have much experience with headphones, but I'm using a pair of Westone UM3x. I'd like these headphones to be a complement to my UM3x if...- sprucemaple

Quote: I have a UM3x myself, and my friend has listened to it, but he prefers more sparkly highs, and 300 is really stretching it. Thank you for the suggestion though, I'll have a look at the MTPC.- sprucemaple
