NuForce uDAC-2 Drama (detailed measurements)
Quote: +1 Life is far from perfect. Mistakes happen. It is difficult to QC out every mistake. We can control how we deal with the aftermath. Improve design, improve Q/C processes, Explain how, why, where etc., There are people who are very interested in how a product...- spc100

NuForce uDAC-2 Drama (detailed measurements)
Thanks for the info and taking the time to do this. I really appreciate it. I think I am back to behringer or emu for my (future purchase) low cost USB DAC for headphone usage!- spc100

Will I see a big difference with a DAC/amp with HD555's on my laptop?

IEM's with flat (flattest) Frequency Response? - Help me Choose!
Hello There, I am looking at purchasing a pair of IEM's to use when travelling, especially flying. I prefer to have headphones with a flat frequency response, so I hear as close to possible, the audio the way it was recorded. What IEM has the flattest frequency response curve? or...- spc100

do my hd650's need an amp
I am still using the HD650's from my Laptop Headphone out, and also occasionaly with a Sansa Fuze, both using FLAC media, and they still sound great to me. Thank you so much for all the feedback; The explanations about an AMP possibly being required to providing a high enough voltage to...- spc100

A non-audiophile’s layman-terms impressions of the sacred Sennheiser HD 650
re vice like Fit - it is not at all obvious, and I was afraid of doing it originally, but if you pull the ear pieces down on either side, you will notice they sit on a notched metal band, and are designed to be customised to the size of your head, and/or position of your ears. The first...- spc100

do my hd650's need an amp
Hiss is present with sr60s but not with hd650. I think I read that higher impedance tends to reduce hiss. (presumably the hiss with the sensitive low impedance phones is caused by low power electric noise, but with the high impedance phones I *guess* the weak electric signal is not...- spc100

do my hd650's need an amp
So, I got the hd650, and they play fine from my laptop hp out. The hiss is almost completely eliminated presumably due to the higher impedance. I can detect a hiss by comparing plugged in and plugged out. buf it they are on my ears for a while i cant really detect the hiss. this lack of...- spc100

do my hd650's need an amp
Thanks for everyone's advice & feedback so far. I'm using flac files, and the HD650, but I guess everything in between these two is not designed purely for reproducing high quality audio. OK, I can see the consensus now - I should upgrade my source, and get an amp - sorry for my wallet...- spc100

do my hd650's need an amp
Thank you for your feedback. I'm fairly new to understanding this sort of thing, so I appreciate your advice. I have read a good bit of the forums over the last few weeks though, and I didn't find something definitive on if/why an AMP increases SQ. I don't have a background in music, so I...- spc100

do my hd650's need an amp
Can you explain to me, or point to an explanation of why an amp will increase the SQ as heard with hd650s and a laptop hp out?- spc100

do my hd650's need an amp
Hi, I have ordered a pair of hd650's. I will listen to them from a laptop headphone out. If I purchase a headphone amp, does science predict any sound quality improvement? Thanks, Sean.- spc100
