From what I've heard, the E9 does very well with orthodynamics.

I'm don't know much about headphones in that price range, but I can say that a small headphone amp like the inexpensive but high quality Fiio E5 (20 bucks) works wonders on the sound quality. There are other options out there; just check out cnet or similar review sites for headphone amps.

YES.   They are an excellent buy for the price. I bought some on the recommendation of a friend who traded in his Yamahas for a pair of Fluances. I tested his out and Since I was in the market with not much cash, I got 'em. Fluance is cheaper but sounds better than many higher priced...
