What do YOU consider to be the best source type? Turntable, CDP, Computer, etc

I think the issue has more to do with people that aren't knowledgeable about the hobby they are getting into. There is a book, Zen the art of motorcycle maintenance, that compares two peoples point of views on motorcycle maintenance. One prefers to work on it himself and one prefers to have it...

The oppo 105 looks awesome, I was actually talking to some people about desktop DAPs in another thread. I'm building an audio shelf at the moment, I might have to find a place for both a TT and an oppo.   What are you using now screwdriver?   -Snack

Thanks, I didn't even think about that! Sometimes I feel like I enjoy learning about the technology behind the audio industry as much as I like actually listening to the music. Well I do like quite a bit of classical, so I should be able to find some decent vinyl in that genre.   Sorry for not...

I'll look into getting it setup, maybe I can have it working by next weekend. Is there a ~$50 preamp you would suggest? Apparently I can get Beck - Sea Change on vinyl, I'm pretty excited to see how that sounds!   -Snack

That sounds awesome! I have been thinking of moving away from my computer as my source. I recently (as of today) was given a turn table. I haven't looked into what I need to set it up yet though. Im going to hook it up to either a Schiit Lyr or little dot mkiv se. What is your setup now?

Well, I also own a pair of AD-700s, and they are a little bright to me. Does it seem better or worse with the AD-700?   -Snack

Oh no, be picky, that's part of the fun! If you don't like it, it doesn't matter if everyone else says it's great. I just don't want you to buy another DAC and still have the issue. Do you have access to some other headphones to try.   -Snack

Looking through some of the reviews on the DT-880, people seem to think the treble is a little harsh. http://www.head-fi.org/products/beyer-dynamic-dt-880-premium-600-ohm-headphones   Maybe the harshness isn't there because the xonar is having a hard time driving them, does is still sound...

I have heard good things about the Magni. I also use a Modi, and I have some DT-990/600. I haven't noticed harshness in the high end, not that it's not their, I just haven't noticed. Do other headphones/amps still give you harsh highs?   -Snack

I understand this can be highly subjective, but that's fine! I want to know why you in particular prefer a specific source over any other. I would love to hear people's experiences with different gear and setups. Pictures are absolutely welcome!   My home setup is computer USB > Modi > Lyr >...

    Availability of "Desttop" DAPs

That's pretty awesome, more features than I need though. Thanks for the link, I'll definably have to check into Marantz more. What I'm really looking for is just an audio player with storage and a pretty good DAC, or ability to connect an external DAC. I think I would be willing to spend around...

Do most people just use a computer as their source? I've been thinking of getting a CD player, but I would have to burn everything I own to CDs.
