  There are like…57,291 different mods in this thread / around Head-Fi for the K550. Like, super, super easy ones at that. They won't help with your highs / MP3s, but I had the same issue with my ears touching the driver cover, and that's not an issue any more.

You have to do a little more than listen and guess. :P  Certain instruments tend to occupy certain frequency ranges, and you can maybe look at some spectrograms to determine where the highs are too high. First and foremost, I would EQ ~8–10 kHz down to see if that helps. All the graphs I have...
