Thx m8 :) I found the Shure 1840 locally, gave them a go.....have to say..very comfortable and looks awesome and sounds good, but did not have the HE400 to compare them.   Again the 299$ deal drove me towards the HiFiMan.     By the way guys, which cable to you recommend with the HE-400 ?

Amazon gives me 2 day free shipping with prime!   I will order the Velour pads with a 1.5m to 1.8m (5ft-6ft)cable at the end of this month  or early next month as I have already abused my credit card for this month!   By the way, which cable do you guys recommend.

I just ordered the HE-400, the 299$ is just too good to pass!   Later I will add HiFiMan Velour Replacement Earpads and maybe a shorter cable too.

Next Month!!, really !!!   I'll wait for next month if Hifiman have an announcement, maybe a new design or a new HE400 revision with addressed "Issues".

The  headband of the HE400 was very uncomfortable and the ear pads........made my ears sweat in just 5 min. But with some slight modification they can be made for comfort that I am sure of.

Interesting and an advise that I'll hold close, alas the Achilles heel for the HE400 at least for me is that they are uncomfortable... How is the X1 compared to the HE400 ?

BEATS are overrated, I have tried them at the local store and was not impressed at all, bass is loud but there is a deference between a loud bass and a deep bass, also mids are too harsh with them !   The HE400 is far superior to them....Hell they are a benchmark to most headphones !

Great, thank you!   I'll need to do my research on the Denon HPs.   So far the Philips Fidelio X1 seems the closer for purchase, need to check if I can find it locally to try it out first. The Sennheiser Hd650 alas is unavailable locally so i have to rely on what I can find to read about it.

Did I hurt your feelings or something ! I know what I have heard, to me the HE400 bass is not deep enough. If you have nothing to say to help or enrich this thread please keep your opinion to yourself, I do not need it and I doubt others who read this thread will do.

I am reading about the Fidelio X1 and it seems promising, the Shure SRH1540...have not heard much about it, how about the Shure 1840 ?

Help me choose my first Audiophile Headphones

Good day all, Lately I was blessed by using my friends Hifiman HE400 on my sound blaster ZXR and I loved most of the experience. The sound is crisp, pronounced and rich ( sorry I am no Audiophile and do not know the terminology) except for the bass as it is a little flat for my taste. Also...
