LOL TL082 is actually decent for audio. Not really what I would wish to have but it sounds better than most of the kids toys out there that use them improperly. Not that a C-moy is "proper" either. They should also have tl072. Both of those will work in a pinch.

The walwart will be single ended so it needs to be split. Did you use a resister divider? If so, you hook it up just like the battery.   If you are using the two battery trick, you will need to make a resistor divider or use an integrated circuit divider.
