I would be quite happy with a lambo, even on pump gas.   I understand that the 650s have far more potential than what is achievable with a 100 bucks amp, but the budget has been set, and the goal wasnt to get the best amp, neither to get the best one in means of price-to-performance ratio...

The only problem with scotch is that the recipient of the amp was given whiskey for the last 10 of his birthdays, otherwise i wouldn't have bothered :)

Thank you for all the answers, I ended up buying a relatively unknown model from a local builder a bit above the budget, and it turned out to be pretty decent for the price.
