REVIEW (more to come) - CEntrance DACport 24/96 USB DAC Amp
[Apologies for the (semi) thread hijack, but thought it better to ask here than to start a new thread.] Sharing an office nowadays so can't really use my DACport + HD 650 anymore. Anyone got recommendations for a closed-back headphone that pairs well with the DACport? Listening is 80%...- rappard

So my Cowon iAUDIO 7 died....
Edit/addition: Amazon lists the SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip 8 GB as the "newer model", but besides AAC support and a somewhat snazzier design I don't see any other advantages to justify the higher price tag - or am I missing something?- rappard

So my Cowon iAUDIO 7 died....
....and I'm looking for a new player. Unfortunately I cannot find the discontinued iAUDIO 7 anywhere online - if anyone knows where to buy (even refurbished is fine) it I'm all ears. As for its replacement, here's what I'm looking for: Absolute requirements: - 8 GB or more - Flash-based...- rappard

Buying Music (Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, etc.)
Quoting the original poster (sorry, I hate Head-Fi's editor): "that 256 and 320 take a trained ear to notice a difference. Is this true?" Can't speak for everyone here, but for me it certainly holds. "How are songs from Amazon and iTunes?" Both good. "invest in programs... -
REVIEW (more to come) - CEntrance DACport 24/96 USB DAC Amp
Quote: It's a well-known limitation of the Squeezebox Touch's firmware that it doesn't deal well with large USB drives (either 2.5" or 3.5") - it's really meant for wireless use (e.g., a NAS). The SBT takes a really long time scanning (and rescanning, after disconnect > reconnect) libraries...- rappard

Good USB DAC for the budget-constrained?
Again, thanks everyone for your advice - in the end I stretched my budget and went with the CEntrance DACport (second-hand though, through this site's For Sale forum). It's on its way to me now....- rappard

Is Creek 5350SE a good headphone amp?
Quote: Yeah, that's the one I'm after. Back off! ;-) Quote: If I recall correctly from Google searches the newer model is also a (slight?) improvement over the older one sonically.- rappard

Is Creek 5350SE a good headphone amp?
Probably a dumb question, but here goes anyway: Is "A5350SE" the official type number? A store near me is selling that one for 600 euros - good value for money? Looking for a good all-in-one (solid state) integrated + headphone solution, for space and budgetary reasons. Headphones: HD 650, SR225i.- rappard

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: NEW Nuforce uDAC-2 with 24/96 - USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
Quote: [rappard: snipped images and some text] The above seems to suggest that if I go laptop > 24/96 FLAC in foobar2000 > uDAC-2, the uDAC won't actually output 24/96. If that's true, to what does it resample?- rappard

Good USB DAC for the budget-constrained?
Quote: OK, that's good to know. Still looking for a "brick" store near me, so I can test it. The Aune (thanks for the tip, Lazerboy2000) is going for 110 GBP on eBay, but I quite like the portability of the nuForce. Pondering.... An aside: noticed in your sig that you own HD555's. How do...- rappard
