Gaming and Surrou...errrr...positional sou...errrr...spatialization...oh crap
How would you describe the quality of sound you're getting? I too am thinking of getting an external sound card, and I want a creative one (thinking of grabbing the x-fi surround 5.1) for cmss-3d. I have an external dac/amp combination already, powering a pair of sennheiser HD598's...- Rahmiel

Surround in stereo
Hmm.. alright, I was hoping to use the DSP of my soundcard and output it through the dac to my headphones. At least, I thought that was the whole purpose to SniperCzar's workaround. I don't see that with the xonar phoebus. I know a lot of cards have virtual surround, my x-fi does 5.1 and 7.1...- Rahmiel

Surround in stereo
I've been messing around with audio on my computer for about 2 years now. I started with an x-fi titanium fatal1ty card from creative, but when I bought the audiotechnica ath ad700x (or something) headphones there was a buzzing noise in the right ear that wouldn't go away. I then moved to...- Rahmiel

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)
Quote: Awesome, thanks for the response. So don't use DDL or DTS, eh? Hmm.. okay, I'll give that a go. Yeah, I really don't know what all these damn features are for, but no, my headset plugs right into my card. I also use game mode almost exclusively. I"ve fooled around with...- Rahmiel

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)
Hey Nameless, been a long time since I posted in this thread. Just a quick recap, but I bought the PC360 headset on your recommendation and when I first got it, I was disappointed with it. However, that was just initially. It took a while for it to "warm up" or seat itself, whatever...- Rahmiel

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)
Hahah, thanks for the reply. You know, I never heard anything out of my spdif unless I had that "play stereo through whatever" checked. So I've had that checked but I just unchecked it after reading your post and I still have sound! Crazy! I'm just glad I finally have the speakers and spdif...- Rahmiel

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)
Thanks Nameless.. your info has helped me a bunch. I finally found a stax usa website and checked out those prices. I so want the top end but I just have to be realistic. I'll look on the sites you listed and search for some deals.. but I'm likely to just go with the sennheiser pc 360 (thanks...- Rahmiel

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)
Hello, I've recently had some issues with my creative soundcard (x-fi titanium, but I don't think it's the HD one..) and I've always wondered if I was truly getting the most out of it. I have a Tritton AX pro headset and I'm looking to upgrade. I've read a bunch of replies, but most of this...- Rahmiel
