    Fellow Beyerdynamic DT100 Owners?

Hi guys,   I just picked up a Beyerdynamic DT100 400ohm and was wondering if anyone else has had experience with it. If you have, what is your opinion? I'm having a hard time trying to come up with a description for their sound; the best I can think of is that it's veiled (especially some...

Oldest headphones you currently own and use.

A pair of Sennheiser HD410SL's that was passed down to me; had to change the pads cause the old ones were really brittle. For the longest time I couldn't properly amp them (they're 600ohms) so I didn't understand how half-decent they were until I got a Fiio E9...

    I guess I don't get it.

I own the HD558 and do not recommend it for portable use. It does not block out any sound and it leaks sound into the environment, so other people can hear you. I listen to the same artists and, if you're adamant on having an open headphone, you MIGHT want to consider getting a Grado SR60. I...

Closed. Flat response. Soundstage. Does something like that exists?

Quote:   As mentioned by sofastreamer, the two headphones are basically on par with each other. They are both great headphones; if you get a chance to a/b them, that might help you decide if it comes down to these two.

Closed. Flat response. Soundstage. Does something like that exists?

I own both the Shure SRH940 and the AKG K550. The AKG has a wider soundstage but it almost sounds like it's less cohesive than the 940s. In my opinion, the Shure is more full-bodied sounding (maybe because the bass seems a touch more prominent) and makes nuances stick out more than the AKG...

Shure SRH-940 Crack and their service!

Quote: I'd love to if I could afford it, but I hardly have any money left for spending on headphones unfortunately. =( Plus, I already have a K550 that has been side-lined by the SRH940, so I guess it's time to give that one some loving. If there's one thing I can't fault the K550 for...

Shure SRH-940 Crack and their service!

Crap. I've been incredibly happy lately because I found a pair of brand new 940s for $160 CDN, but I was always a little leery of the build quality. After reading this thread, I don't even want to put the headphones on anymore. :(   It's a shame, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 940s.

Songs that make your headphone WOOOOOW!!!

I generally really dislike talking instead of singing in a song, but listening Somewhere Down The Crazy River by Robbie Robertson through my K550 sent shivers down my spine. The vocals  (both talking and singing) sound incredible throughout the track.

    best bass headphone under 300$

This is immensely entertaining.   As a previous XB500 owner, I highly recommend those cans for BOOM BOOM BOOM. I don't even want to imagine what it would be like with the ZO.

    Old Rock, Budget 100-150$

Since you are located in Canada, you can try The Headphone Bar as well. It's an actual store located in Vancouver, but you can buy online as well.

Quote:   ^This. The K550 is very large and has very little clamping force. Thus, unless you plan on sitting like a statue on the bus or something, you may find that they will slide off of your head (or at least give the impression that they will) while on the move.

    Q701 or K550??

Quote:   Travis at the Headphone Bar is basically the only one that's supplied my demand for headphones. The Long & Mcquade down on Terminal has a decent selection of mid-fi headphones to demo, but the last time I was there they had next to nothing in stock. I am starting to see a slight...

    Q701 or K550??

Finally someone else in Vancouver that owns the K550. They're great headphones in my opinion. Can SEEM bass light if you don't have a good seal or the recording doesn't call for it, but if it's there, it will come through. Though in my opinion, neither the Q701 or the K550 are good for...

What's the general consensus on the K550?

In my opinion, the K550 should never have been labeled a "portable" headphone. It's pretty big and has very little clamping force. As a result, some people with smaller heads have had proper sealing issues, which decreased their perceived bass. In addition, the cable is quite long.   I think...

Can I amp the Audio Technica M50 to be as bassy as beats pro?

Quote: ^ This. Nothing more rewarding than searching through a used CD bin and finding treasures. Unless, of course, the music you like listening to has never been released on CD. I used to own a Sony XB500 and can vouch for its bass quantity. In fact, the reason why I got rid of it was...
