Recabling Grado SR80
I seem to be having some issues with the Edit button on here... It's submitting new posts instead? Anyway, yeah. I haven't actually measured but the Grado cable looks like it should fit a .25" diameter jack. For pads, I would look at the Head-Fi sponsors that sell Grados. -

Recabling Grado SR80

Amazon doesn't seem to actually sell any replacement plugs though. I also noticed you need to make sure to get... -
Recabling Grado SR80
Not hard at all, IMO. Soldering a new plug on just requires steady hands and adhering to some simple rules. You can pick up a cheap iron at Radio Shack that will suffice for something like this for what you'd pay to ship your headphones elsewhere. If you Google, you can find instructions on... -
HDTV question - is 60Hz refresh good enough?
Most of the 120 Hz TVs have something called motion interpolation. This is what causes the unnaturally fluid motion people are complaining about, and you should be able to disable it. It may play a role in reducing motion blur, but I've read that motion blur on LCDs is mainly caused by the...- PerformanceFirst

Advanced edit is missing from posts
Quote: You can just hit clear at the bottom left and it deletes your editing and takes you out of edit mode. Also, I'm not sure if Head-Fi had this enabled or not, but I believe you can opt to delete your posts entirely in Vbulletin, and I don't see an option for that here.- PerformanceFirst

Guess what this is
Specifically, it's the Indian Head test card. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Head_test_card Edit: Ugh, I need to read the whole thread before replying. Can we delete posts on the new Head-Fi?- PerformanceFirst

Paulson Goldman Fraud Case
From what I understand, the ratings agencies rated these investments as safer than they turned out to be. At any rate, we're all having to deal with the broader ramifications of these bad mortgages being issued when they shouldn't have been.- PerformanceFirst

35mm film low light performance vs. digital?
They won't let you take an SLR into many concerts. Stupid rule IMO. Maybe they are more tolerant at smaller venues?- PerformanceFirst

Verizon data roaming
How is this guy involved in two tech businesses and unfamiliar with a kilobyte? Even if someone isn't tech savvy, surely they come across typical file sizes for different media just by using stuff like MP3 players, digital cameras, etc?- PerformanceFirst

Need help re) DSLR for action shots
If you want to do this cheaper, Canon has a 200mm 2.8 prime that is around $800 at Adorama. It is also much more compact than a 70-200 2.8. There is also a 135mm f/2 L lens around $1k. It won't have enough reach for soccer, but it would be something to look into for indoor sports. As for Canon...- PerformanceFirst

So who would you put on the halftime show? Destroyed my memory of a legend.
I think Guns N' Roses would be great. Live and Pearl Jam would also be good.- PerformanceFirst

Please help me pick a DSLR
This is just my opinion, but I hate the small viewfinders some budget bodies have. The Rebel T2i looks like it has a lot of trickle down features from the 7D, so it should be technically excellent, but I don't like my Rebel's viewfinder. The small size is a mixed bag- great for carrying around...- PerformanceFirst
