Looking for a tube amplifier with incredible clarity

Decware makes tube headphone amps that are very neutral..Definitely not excessively warm, or any loss of detail because of noise ....and it does extract and present detail well, with variable success depending on the tubes used.   My comparison would be my Burson Soloist SL solid-state amp...I...

Needing some recommendations for a rather inexpensive speaker setup in a medium sized bedroom

Active studio Monitors are an option....I am using some Emotive Airmotive6 active monitors as my computer speakers in a bedroom/desk setup.   Not analytic or harsh sounding at all...Using an old Adcom GFP-750 passive/active pre-amp and a JDS Labs ODAC USB out from my labtop and couldn't be...

    Which amp for Beyerdynamic T90?

I am using the the T-90's with a Decware CSP2 (2009  build)....Fantastic combo, and overtook my Senn. HD650's as my favorite pairing with the Decware.     I believe the new model is the CSP3....uses three 6922 tubes and a 5UG (and others) rectifier tube....well made, great warranty and service...

    Best Amp for k702

Hello, good morning here!...   One thing to remember, the Schitt Lyr is a SS/Tube Hybridm not all tube... Done right like the Lyr and best of both worlds for some...The input is tube and output is SS   My demo with the Lyr was positive, but chose the Burson Soloist SL, because my Decware...

Thanks for the well written and informative review...the K612 is now on my radar! I have owned the MA900 for about 6months and really like them. Very versatile and comfortable...with comfort and relaxed sound being one of the main reasons I find myself enjoying long listening sessions with...

    Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

I have owned the MA900's for about six months and they continue to amaze me!! The comfort, accurate sound, open sound stage, accurate bass... are all great with the MA900. A new discovery!! Great sound from the headphone jack of a newly acquired used Denon DVD-5000 (circa 1999)....It has...

    Best Amp for k702

I had a chance to hear the Schiit Lyr at the Chicago AXPONA show last March, and I was very impressed....and immediately wanted to hear my AKG701's with it... So, I think Blackmoore's suggestion of demo'ing the Schiit Lyr is correct......would be a good comparison with the Burson Soloist SL...

    Best Amp for k702

I have the AKG 701 and a Burson Soloist SL and Decware CSP2 tube pre/ OTL headphone amp.   With the Decware (OTL design, and really good with higher impedance phones, Senn. 650's), I rarely used the AKG 701's with the Decware, and they sat on the sidelines.  Until, the Burson Soloist SL...

How I spoiled hi-fi for myself

I used the same old cd/dac for 5 of the 7 years I have been serious about this hobby. All the while I upgraded all the equipment around it...   It was the Adcom GCD-750 circa 1999-2000, I bought it used in 2007, about a year into putting together my 1st system   specs:   Adcom...

Portable amp for Sansa Clip + Moded Fostex T50RP

I have a Sansa Clip+ paired with the JDS Labs C421 portable amp.   I don't have the Fostex T50rp, but I have the Beyerdynamic DT1350, and they have similar ohm specs (50ohm and 80ohm)....   the JDS C421 definitely helps the Beyer DT1350's  compared to using the Sansa Clip+ only...night...
