Recommendation: closed back circumaural Under $200

Shopping for my next set of cans, and was hoping to get some advice. I'm looking for the following: • over ear with good noise isolation • easily driven from a mobile device with no additional amping • a slightly warmer sound signature. Something "fun" with decent bass. but tight and accurate...

    Best bass earbuds?

EarPods are decent earphones. Little isolation, which leads to poor bass.... But clarity is better than SkullCandy and most lower end Beats. Beats of course have more bass, being in-ear... Apple Earbuds are terrible... But Apple EarPods are pretty good. As far as good earbuds/in-ears for...

What volume level do you set your IEM to?

Depending on the source, and the IEM, I usually start around 50% of max. Through my laptop, 50% is about as high as I'd go. Maybe two clicks lower... Around 40% is comfortable. Through my iPhone, iPod, or iPad, 50% sounds decent with my CX300s... But is too quiet with the RE-400s. The RE-400s...

Beyerdynamic DT770 sound like a crap when using with iPhone 5S...

Which DT770 do you have? For an iPhone, you'd want the 32-ohm model. The higher impedance 80 or 250 ohm models would be too hard for an iPhone to drive, without additional amplification.

I "burned in" my new headphones, now they sound distorted

I think a lot of times, the detail that can be brought out with these higher end headphones and earphones can really show how bad a recording is. The terrible things we can sometimes hear in songs we know well, were always there... We just didn't hear them through lesser headphones.

    Good IEM for under $150

With hip hop and electronic being your primary genres, you might find the bass in the RE-400 a bit lacking. Shure SE215, VSonic GR07 Bass Edition (little over $150, but maybe find some used or on sale?) and Yamaha EPH-100SL are all great IEMs near your price range that have decent bass.

    HiFiMAN RE-400 Review

I want to try some Sony Hybrids with my 400s. The Comply tips are pretty nice so far. How do the RE-400s compare to the GR07 BE? Are the GR07s easy to drive from a mobile phone or iPod? They have more bass, but how much more? How are the mids and highs? Clear? Are the highs harsh? Vocals? I'm...

    Hifiman RE-400

Yes, foam tips help somewhat. It also depends what source you are listening from. When I plug the 400s in to my laptop to listen to music, the bass is much stronger than normal. (Normal being when I listen to the 400s through my iPod or iPad) I too, never considered myself a "bass head"...

Recommendations for replacement of my Monster Turbine

Is the Monster Gratitude fitment bad because of design? Or just the supplied tips? Some Comply foam tips should fit better than the supplied tips, and combined cost should still be less than $100 total.

Need help choosing an Earphone (in-ear)

I would consider the UE900 over the SE535. The 900s supposedly have a little more prominent bass, which is usually more "fun" in my opinion.

Hifiman RE-400 can give great bass when properly EQd

Through my iPod and iPad, the bass on the RE-400 leaves a lot to be desired, in terms of quantity and impact. The bass is there, and it is great... It's just quiet. I don't fiddle with the EQ. I listened to my RE-400s today plugged into the headphone jack of my MacBook Pro, and they are way...

Need help choosing an Earphone (in-ear)

How much do you want to spend? What sort of music do you listen to? What do you listen to your music through? Do you know what sort of sound you like? I would test out a few cheaper models with different sound signatures to nail down the sound you like. Then, think about spending more to...

    Shure se215 or Hifiman re-400?

The RE400 is very neutral. Very good clarity. Very comfortable. Build quality seems pretty good. Finding a tip that fits properly can be a hassle. I just use Comply foam tips instead of any of the rubber/silicon tips. Another headphone you may want to look at, is the MeElectronics A161p. It's...

Dr Dre beats studio's, Thank you for bringing me to head-fi

SkullCandy was my stepping stone. I was originally going to "upgrade" to Beats after the SkullCandy's... But I couldn't drop that kind of money blindly. Researching Beats alternatives/competitors is what brought me here to Head-Fi, and informed me of Beats shortcomings for their price. So in a...

Recommend songs that sound way better on a good headphone

Live performances/concerts sound amazing through a quality headphone. iTunes Festival performances come to mind.
