Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
I've read about someone wanting to play Doom on the Classic a few pages back here. I found the cause of it getting stuck on loading and found a workaround for it. Seems like there is some timing functionality which Doom wants to use, but isn't implemented in the Classic-Version of Rockbox...- mind in a box

The battery isn't that likely to be really drained. If you let the device rest for like 5 minutes it will be almost full again. This happens only when it has to do hard work, like building the database. To get around that: You can put the ipod on the charger and hold the menu button while...- mind in a box

I can tell of a HUGE difference I got using the bass-amp of rockbox with the speakers and the radio of my old car. Sounds quite nice if I don't turn it too loud :)- mind in a box

Quote: That's what I am saying to people. Itunes didn't touch my PC since I got that iPod 3 or 4 years ago. Used Winamp to copy music right away. ;) PS: Uninstalling wont erase everything of iTunes. Some processes stay and even run in the background! Not even to speak of the folders...- mind in a box

You may didn't disable all those iTunes-processes. I think one of them can only be seen by clicking the button which shows all processes of all users right underneath the process list of the taskmanager (Not the task-list!).- mind in a box

Quote: I was really looking forward to this being fixed with just spinning the disk down, but yesterday when I was trying to fix doom I noticed it didn't help at all. No perfect connection like I had many times with this fix before. At least I got doom running by falling back to the...- mind in a box

After a few hours of reading code I may have found the fix for the problem. My iPod will get recognized every time I connect it now, always in USB 2.0 mode. What I did was simply calling the function to spindown the disc immediately when entering USB mode. Since I'm not that familiar...- mind in a box

Quote: No way, this really works! So one solution would be to wait for any access to the HDD to finish before initializing the USB-Connection from the iPod? I'm not really familiar with the code of Rockbox, but if it's really that simple I'm may able write a patch for that.- mind in a box

I wonder how people are actually developing for this platform. I just tried to get the Doom-Plugin running (Doom is awesome!) but after I failed to copy the newly compiled rockbox binary so many times I really got out of the mood for that as every time I wanted to test it, I needed at least 30...- mind in a box

USB is still a major problem for me here. I just can't get my iPod recognized by my PC completely. In the best cases I have gotten so far I had USB 1.1 support only. In some other cases the driver would fail to install or the device was listened as mass storage device without any size in "My...- mind in a box

Quote: It's because that Folder is flagged 'hidden'. There is a setting for the filebrowser to show everything, though, I don't exactly know what it's called by now. Just take a look around, I'm sure you can find it.- mind in a box

Quote: I had almost the same problem as you. I could still copy files to my iPod, though. As r100 suggested, I returned to the original firmware and then rockboxed my iPod again. Haven't had any of those problems so far now.- mind in a box

I suggest you to also link the font package which solved my theme problems in the new (shiny :) ) FAQ. The package does not come with emCORE and it is quite hidden in the rockbox-homepage. Without it most of the themes won't work. Here is the download-link...- mind in a box
