    Proposed Test: Cable Differences

Been a while since I have posted. Has anyone mentioned the idea of possibly having a full double blind and scientific measurements done at something like the big Head-Fi meet. I am sure there would be a lot of people from both camps willing to participate.

    Audio Quality Flac/OGG/MP3/etc.

I think that some sort of FAQ thread should be made on this issue, or really just state why FLAC = WAV, as do every other purely lossless audio codec, and then just leave it at that. This topic keeps coming up time and time again and I think the simplest way to state it is: 1. Lossless audio...

    Mozart piano concertos

Brendel or Ashkenazy. But there are some great individual performances that I personally find more enjoyable, sometimes it is just one or two little nuances that make the performance, I enjoyed Argerich playing the 20th a lot.

best remastering of Rachmaninov playing own concertos?

If you have heard the Glenn Gould re-performance by Zenph and liked it, I got a message from the head of the team stating that they will be re-performing his solo piano works. Not exactly the concertos, but his solo works are very good, I have the RCA set and despite the quality they are very...

Do you drink to kill physical pain..

Usually drinking can manifest itself in different pain when I drink, hangover, falling down, etc. I would rather go to the after hours clinic or get something over the counter. Plus you don't have to think about the "where the hell was I last night..."

    Dungeons and Dragons

My friends and I used to play quite often in grade 10 and 11. I had a cleric that somehow managed to survive 2 years, despite shooting at almost anything in my path. But I do not play anymore as I was shunned by the nerds for being "too popular" in their words. Kind of ironic really, but I do...

Which Well-Tempered Clavier Recording Should I Buy?

I would go with Gould. I know some people on here don't really like him, but he was the pianist that started my foray into classical music and I prefer his interpretations (irregardless if he played it the way it was "supposed" to be played). Even Richter himself admired Gould's playing and...

Want to start painting. Where to begin?

You really should take a class. With all the different kinds of brushes and techniques it will most likely be overwhelming unless you have a lot of money and time to invest in painting, paints and brushes are not cheap at all. I made all my own canvases as well, its really simple. My suggestion...

    Gun-Fi

I have some old rifles and shotguns, one is an old Winchester and the other was a custom shotgun that was my grandmother used for hunting. I wish I had some pictures, I don't have them in my current place. I don't have any new guns though, I have them for nostalgic purposes, a new firearm seems...

The "dirty little secrets about your work" thread

I used to work at A&W. Some things I can tell you about the place. NEVER order a veggie burger, chances are it has been sitting there for about 2-3 hours or more as so few of them are actually sold, the swiss cheese on them usually gets dried out as well, and the "buttermilk" sauce gets curdley...

    Looking for Reccomendations on Classical

I would suggest starting out with composers like Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, etc. listening for things that peak your interest. And just listening to about everyhting you can get your hands on. Eventually you will find which performers suit your interests, and which composers you like the most...
