Just bought AKG K340 Headphones - have no idea what amp?

I own three pairs of AKG K340 headphones. I can power them very nicely with a Heed Canamp. I also have a class D Topping A30 pro which features enough power. My favorite option is a Wheatfield HA-1 OTL tube amp. No strain.

    AKG K501 love...

I note this thread goes back a long time. So does my ownership and frustration with the AKG k501. I don't recall any other headphone I've wanted to like and taken so long to find the right amp to drive. For me, the magic moment was powering them using an old Crown power amp I'd found for a small...

Where's The AKG K601 Review Thread?

I was hoping to find a thread addressing the k601 power issue. I've owned them for years. Recently, I replaced the JVC JAS55 amplifier in my main speaker system with a Tripath, so I had a chance to hook up my K601 phones to it. Truthfully, I have always been disappointed with them, especially...

    Nobsound tube amp impression

Airwaves Recording Engineer/Founder John McCortney and I spent last evening comparing recordings played back alternatively through both a $50 Nobsound and a $500 Heed Canamp, recently upgraded with an LM4562 Dual Opamp. While the Heed Canamp performed beautifully and displayed more clean high...

    Nobsound tube amp impression

Thank you for your response. You hold an Interesting point of view. I have not done any tube rolling yet, but according to this view, upon swapping tubes I should hear no difference. As it is, it sounds pretty darn good, so I haven't been eager to swap. At the end of the day, it's all about...

    Nobsound tube amp impression

Maybe at $179, it's seems a poor value, but at its current $50 on Amazon and other sites, it's a comparative bargain. I own AKG k501 phones, which are finicky about how they're driven, and it sounds very, very good, punching well above its class. It's also been reviewed on various sites and...

    Heed CanAmp

As owner of both a Heed Canamp and multiple sets of AKG phones, including (perhaps favorite) k501 headphones, I can testify to what a great match this is. It's not just the additional bass but the sense of drive that just seems effortless. I am a big AKG fan, but they really thrive on power.

    AKG K340 in Africa

I own both a Sony D2 CD player and AKG k340 headphones. While I wouldn't call it a match made in heaven, it sounds fine, better than decent. It depends upon his music, his listening habits. If I didn't hang out around here surrounded by power-hungry music fans, I'd probably be fine with this...

Tube Rolling Help for Wheatfield Audio HA-1, thinking Mullard

I've done a lot of tube rolling in my Wheatfield HA-1. Of course I'm using AKG k501 phones, so I'm less likely to want to tighten the bass. I have a Mullard 12AU7 and it is a worthy combination. I bought one since the amp requires only one, not two of these. I've also picked up some RCA...

ibasso d10 cobra vs. emmeline tomahawk vs. Audiophile Products Cute Beyond

Their Amazon page indicates they are ideal for the AKG k240df. Isn't that harder to drive than a k701? It's hard to believe they'd specifically claim a hard-to-drive phone and not be able to handle it, given Amazon's liberal return policy. They also claim a hefty voltage and I thought voltage...

Newbie Q: sensitivity and impedance (AKG K240DF's) ?

Yes, you need an amp. And you need voltage swing. I'd want at least 2 volts. Anyone else?

    Driving AKG K240DF 600ohm for $150?

QED MB45. I paid around $100 for mine and it has 2 watts of power. It does a great job with any of my AKG phones. Although I don't own the k240DF's, I have several other 600 ohm AKG's.

    Headphone for crap recordings?

I'd go with the AKG k240M. It is a good phone. It takes some amp power, but I think it's the best phone choice over a wide material. I can't say exactly if it's that it isn't revealing or it just keeps you focused on the music, but I think they're a good match to your description and they can be...
