Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

Just because it has been said many times doesn't make it true. Way too much BS around "properly driven". "Loud doesn't necessarily mean properly driven?" What does it mean then? Please explain how an amp can drive a headphone to loud, but a more powerful amp is needed to drive it "properly"...

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

It is unlikely that modified (as the current Diana Phi driver is smaller than 1266) Phi TC drivers will sound the same in a Diana frame as the 1266 frame. The size of enclosure, distance from ear etc. will change the sound, better/worse will be subjective but different almost certainly...

silvesurfer616, My Custom Cans 2.5 balanced cable, not for sale, but highly recommended. I don't buy cables for sound improvement and the Diana cable is as good as it gets anyway, however for balanced this is an excellent cable and very well priced. Absolutely flexible, no noise issues, and fits...

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

I occasionally run my Diana (V1 not Phi) through an AK A&nSR15, and I find that pairing excellent. It does push the AK DAP, however it isn't at full volume and there is some headroom, albeit limited. Diana sounds great form any source/Amp with power over 250mW at 32ohms.

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

We all have reference hearing benchmarks, our live music experiences. Even great headphones are unlikely to recreate the palpable, sound stage capability of a bank of speakers, but can bring an intimate as "real as it gets" signature, that can replicate a live acoustic delivery. The Diana (for...

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

The more I listen to Diana the more I am convinced they are the pinnacle of headphones. I cannot fault the sound. Realistic, fun, punchy, tonally right. I have listened to music all my life (most of us have I guess) and been into headphones for well over a decade, Diana is as good as it needs...

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

I have had my Diana V1 for about a month, and I absolutely love the sound. I agree with neutral sounding description (slight lean toward warm) in my opinion, and I also can see why people might say that they don't have a wow factor at first, simply because no frequency factor jumps out...

@Everyone who has owned/listened to AKG Q701 headphones - what have you heard that sounds better for under 600 dollars?

The Q701 (K701 and K702 for that matter) punch above their price point (particularly now), similar to the HD600 and 650 and also the DT880, the old school Trio. They will all compete against <$600 and even >$600 headphones to some degree. Personal preference plays a significant part in "what...

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

No argument from me. They sound pretty good out of my SR15 and Violectric V200 as well. Great sounding headphone.

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

I think Diana sounds great straight from an iFi Nano BL, so there is no reason it won't perform well from an xCAN. There is a fair amount of "magic" and BS around electronics some times, I guess it supports the huge dollar "investment" some people have. Diana doesn't need a power station to...

Best-sounding open & closed headphones... with no EQ-ing or mods!

I wouldn't. Best is simply too broad, an almost erroneous word. What is the best car? What is the best wine? Etc. If someone is seeking anything even approaching an objective discussion/comparison (in what is an extremely subjective topic) then a more specific descriptor than "best" will...

Best-sounding open & closed headphones... with no EQ-ing or mods!

That suggests that all good hi-fi speakers have the same tonality. I suspect that there is as much subjective variation in speakers as headphones. On topic - Abyss Diana (Open) and Ultrasone Signature pro (closed). Albeit I will add that I personally find the word "best" to be one of the most...

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

It seems to be true that we all hear differently. Your observations and statements regarding Diana are nothing like my observations. "Bass light (lacks bass impact), bright treble, imaging could be much better, not very resolving, minimum viable product of high end headphones", and yet you...
