$300. Wow!  I've just looked back at my invoice for 2006 where I had them delivered to the UK for $170 all in ($40 of which was shipping).  Talk about appreciation..!

I had a Magni / Modi and personally I felt that I could not tell a huge difference (if at all) even with FLAC between a macbook pro / iPad / iPhone with HD580s and DT880s (apart from volume).  Sacrilege I know...!  I guess it depends on your source, but if it's Apple personally I wouldn't bother.

How do people find these compared to the regular AD900's? I tried the AD900x in the shop and it still sounded rather sibilant.  I couldn't detect these on the nearby AD-2000x but it was difficult to be critical as there was lots of ambient music playing from speakers.

That said, I did feel a possible synthetic feeling to the sound ( Possibly the NC was digitising the sound a bit too much...).  But this was perhaps nothing at all and just in contrast to my own headphones which were closed but I could very much hear the background hum and this was my brain...

Thanks, however I run a mac so I don't think I can use that.  I tried the apple eq and it just made things sound very bad and distorted.   Also RE: Burning in - they were used so already burned in.  I do have quite a taste for moderate bass so not sure how much better they will get :( !

Looking around there seems to be quite a lot of windows based sound cards that have virtual surround etc.  I am looking for something that would work for a macbook pro / mac laptop - ideally software based if possible.  I have seen the Beyer Headzone and think that it's £750 I can't justify now...

Running a 2010 MBP from headphone out comparing it with my USB MODI/Magni powering AD 900s, Sennheiser 580s and DT880s.  Apart from the volume difference (Dt880s being the obvious one needing amping, the other two were actually reasonable volumes) it sounds damn good.  Not a huge difference if...

Got my 880s/600s recently with a LD Mk V amp, way more comfy than my Sennheiser 580s and I feel less fatiguing too :)  However I do feel they lack a bit in bass, any  suggestions (software dsp or hardware) to help this?  Or is the answer 900s...haha!
