The Astell & Kern AK120
People complaining of short life all have mods. Unmodded I frequently get 10+ hours with my AK120- Kaadian

$350CAD HERUS: Asynchronous USB Audio 2.0, 24bit 352.8Ks/S, DXD and DSD64/128, 2.4VRMS Headphone DAC
I got mine a couple of days ago and I am about as low profile as it gets. I have been using Audiovana to play on my Macbook Pro. I can't hear a hint of back-ground noise, totally silent on quiet sections, well apart from the vinyl rips where clicks and pops stand out a mile. No problems...- Kaadian

The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016
I've just installed the new firmware and now my DX50 hangs on the "iBasso Audio" test screen. One time it did scan my microSD card. I can see the DX50 internal drive if i boot it with a cable plugged in but I cannot access the player. And no the lock is not enabled. I've pulled the battery...- Kaadian

The Astell & Kern AK120
Any thoughts on the new firmware? I love the sound of 1.32 and do not want to lose it. On the other hand I have a nice collection of DSD files so improved processing would be welcomed.- Kaadian

The Astell & Kern AK120
Quote: I'd more put the hiccups down to Bluetooth itself being a bit **** rather than anything on the AK side. Top Tip: If you delete a BT pairing on your phone and want to re-add it to the AK but you can't because it already exists? Swipe left like you would on a song on the BT entry...- Kaadian

The Astell & Kern AK120
So I tested the AK120 bluetooth paired with my new Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Wife called me and AK120 popped up with notice of incoming call and number. Very nice. Pulled out headphones, answered call. (This btw is going to save me strife from missing calls from wife while working) Back...- Kaadian

The Astell & Kern AK120
Quote: I too hate external amps. I originally had W4R with my AK100 but I thought it was somewhat lacking, especially with bass. Changed to EM64s and just love them to bits. Upgraded to AK120 and am blown away. I did test the W4R on the AK120 and while I thought they sounded a lot better...- Kaadian

IEM Recommendations for AK100
Earsonic SM64 are what I settled on. I had originally purchased Westone 4R but they sounded empty and lacked bass for me. The SM64 on the other hand have bass, presence and crystal clear highs. Great combination with the unmodded AK100 I have. Just got the AK120 and had hoped the...- Kaadian

The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP
Quote: Maybe I am in a minority but I just don't "get" the UI, layout, navigation, notification, user feedback of the RB UI. It's just lost on me. I do not enjoy interacting with it. The AK100 on the other hand is fast and friendly in comparison.- Kaadian

The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP
Quote: Yes I have a recent stable build. The UI is just horrible. I was using it to A/B the FLAC on the ipod versus the AK100. I mean it runs, it doesn't crash or anything. I just don't ever want to touch the UI. It is such a pain to navigate with both the poor layout and the lag...- Kaadian
