I can't speak to the castor, which I haven't tried. Because of the treble you might like the Clear better than the JD7, but I wouldn't call it more open at all.

I have both the JD7 and Clear, but I'm not one who writes eloquently about sound differences. I was comparing them because I really should reduce my IEM count, but I love both of them. Subjectively, I find the Clear has both more prominent mid-bass and more treble energy. JD7 is a bit more even...

You guys keep saying things like this and it makes me want to pull the trigger. They're a measly $36 on Amazon in the US with next day delivery. But I have the Quintet coming in the next couple days, still love my Fiio JD7, and am already a big fan of the Clear for the sub $50 market. Why would...

I don't see any problem with my Clears yet (just arrived yesterday). I'm actually quite surprised at the treble clarity without going into harshness territory for me. Yes, they are bassy but not the bass monsters I expected. For me they actually have a pretty versatile sound signature that works...
