    Foobar2000 file order in albums

I appear to have lost the message I just wrote. I'm now using my new computer with Windows 10 and I've set up blockers in my browser as I was seeing screeds of ads whenever I went on line. This site was blocked so I set it up to allow scripts and that's when I lost the message.   Anyway, I...

    Foobar2000 file order in albums

My EAC problem is now well and truly solved.   I haven't mentioned that I decided to write to Andre Wiethoff personally a little while ago but his first reply didn't come up with any clues as to why I wasn't seeing those plug ins. I decided to write again with a little more information and...

    Foobar2000 file order in albums

With regard to my comment about the metadata, its contents in each file are displayed top-left in my Foobar set-up, while all the track/file information appears top-right. If I begin playing from the beginning of the album - which is my usual approach - the metadata information for that first...

The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote

I use Exact Audio Copy to rip to FLAC or DSD - there are plug-ins to allow the latter - and once I've managed to incorporate the metadata into the files I use Foobar2000 as my file manager and the results are visually and sonically excellent. There is a fair bit of initial setting up to do, however.

I'm pleased you've replied to my last message because I wanted to tell you that I am now fully up and running and have automated the "Get CD Information From" option. In "EAC Options...", I clicked on "General" and ticked the "On unknown CDs" option. That enables both "automatically access...

I suppose it was inevitable that it was going to happen at some stage but the very first CD-R I've attempted to rip this morning is not in the database. I guess I'll have to enter all the details manually from the disc's liner notes, although I'm not sure how to tackle the track titles. I'll try...

While waiting for your reply, I studied more of the drop-down menu options in EAC and I have discovered a way to achieve the results I'm after and so far it is working well. However it is completely different from the method you use and because of that I'm still not completely happy about it.  ...

    Foobar2000 file order in albums

I went to download another copy of EAC 1.1 and as I was doing so, a message popped up to say that I had an important driver file missing. I soon discovered that it was a ploy to sell me WinZip Driver Updater and I took the bait after being told that there were nine obsolete drivers on my system...

Once again, thanks for your reply and the screen shots of EAC.   Now we are getting somewhere, as it's immediately obvious that our EAC setups are quite different. The question, of course, is why? I have absolutely no idea at present.   I think I shall uninstall EAC again, reboot, then...

    Foobar2000 file order in albums

I've just thought of something else. Were you referring to the set up in 'Metadata Options' or 'Metadata PlugIn Options' ? My answer was related to the former. I've just checked up on the settings in 'Metadata PlugIn Options" and the 'Selected metadata provider' once again contains just...

    Foobar2000 file order in albums

Firstly, many thanks for your continued perseverance with this problem. It is much appreciated.   I haven't actually done anything in the 'Metadata Provider' tab, merely because as it stands there really isn't anything to do. In the 'Selected metadata provider' box is, simply, 'Built-in freedb...

    Foobar2000 file order in albums

Firstly thanks for clearing up a misunderstanding on my part regarding the source of the metadata. I actually thought it was in the TOC of the disc.   I assume you are referring to freedb? Under 'EAC>Metadata Options'>freedb, I clicked on the 'Get active freedb server' button and a small...

Sorry I ignored your previous message, Brian.   The situation has changed now and I'm totally at a loss to know what is happening. I has a serious Windows problem a fortnight or so ago and had to reinstall the operating system (I'm currently still using XP but I'm getting a brand new high-spec...

    Foobar2000 file order in albums

Once again, thanks for your help.   After I sent my last message here I noticed on another forum I visited yesterday that someone was having the same problem and was advised to try the extended string you have suggested in your message, so I tried it last night - sadly, without success.  ...

    Foobar2000 file order in albums

My problem is that I didn't realize that the default FLAC encoder - the one involved when the CMP option is clicked, without doing any setting up - does not write the CD's metadata to the file created.   I found instructions on line that purports to produce the results I want but after...
