A DIY low profile Hiss-eliminator/Bass-deepener/Impedance-matcher for IEM's
hi audiocats! awsome project there, thank you for this inpiring build and cool tips. have you tried winding the other side(primary/secondary side) on top of the other for better coupling? not sure if it would translate to better coupling (perhaps) and improvement. I sure do want to try this one.- jogor

Continued sidetrack discussion from "Tiniest Portable amp I can build" - nikongod microtransformer-based impedance step-down box
Hi jcx,can you recommend a core material suitable for audio? What are the things that i need to look for in the specs when choosing the right material? Will toroid core do for such application? I would like to try my hands on this. Appreciate your help. Thanks. And by the way thanks to...- jogor

Any Zune owners out there?
jumped in the zune band wagon several months ago...actually my first ever dap. the decision was a gamble on my part knowing that line out is activated via firmware. but still hoping that one day a hack will be available for this. pretty much satisfied with it.- jogor

Balanced output Cmoy with Unbalanced input
i want to try a simple cheap balance rig and the balanced cmoy comes to mind. searching the diy forum i found amb's circuit diagram for a balanced output amp with an unbalanced inputs. the gain resistor values are pretty much easily substituted depending on your preference. my question is...- jogor

Relay-based volume controls versus stepped attenuators
hi luvdunhill, you might want to check out the lightspeed attenuator. no experience with it but it seems to have picked up a lot of interest at diyaudio. could be configured as balanced as well, although you have to be aware that ldr matching is pita. dont let this discourage you, who knows you...- jogor

capacitor voltage rating in SMPS
hi splaz, i assume that you are referring to electrolytic capacitor. there could be a number of reason why that particular part was chosen. it could be that for the rated voltage, the ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) is small. or the designer opted to provide a good operating voltage(peak)...- jogor

Interference Issues in National Semiconductor ICs
hi dumbears, maybe you could try out dr. meiers solution he used on the updated headphone amp that appeared in headwize (uses LM6171 from national semiconductors). check out this link, hope it helps: http://www.meier-audio.homepage.t-online.de/headamp.htm- jogor

Backwards Cap
same experience i have was on a power supply with organic polymer (similar to oscon) e-cap connected in reverse polarity. whats strange here is the e-cap did not fail for a long time (months of continuous operation). ripple output and regulation was not affected. the organic polymer could have...- jogor

dynahi power supply!
yes, e-caps should not be operated way below the rated voltage. operation at low voltages causes the aluminum oxide dielectric to thin (reform), which alters the capacitance and break down voltage. This has the same effest as storage without any dc bias (for years), although much slower. This is...- jogor
