    Earpad materials - materially different?

    Is the Hifiman HE-6 clearly a league above the Hifiman HE-500?

    The HE-6 is clearly a more refined headphone, with better definition and tonal color (or truth of timbre if you prefer)   BUT - and this is critical..  The HE-6 must be used with an amp such as the EF-6 which can drive it properly.   Any compromise in amplification throws any comparison...
