Who here tried the Sennheiser Orpheus?
Hi, I'd be interested to find out how to remove the tube-cages on the HEV90 too - so that I can roll the tubes. Thanks, --Jatinder- jatinder

R10 owners: Something I've always wondered...
Hi David, I received mine new in 1999 direct from Japan. The R10 was supplied stored fat-side out. --Jatinder- jatinder

R10 owners: Something I've always wondered...
Hi, When I first received my R10s - they were packed fat-side out. Later, I noticed that the cable is stressed in that position -- so I switched to the fat-side in approach. --Jatinder- jatinder

Any old fart head-fi'ers still around?
I joined in June 2001, and lurked for couple of years before that on headwize and head-fi when it was formed. I have spent the last few years building and improving my speaker based setup and trying to get the blasted qualias to work properly. I occasionally check into head-fi to see what the...- jatinder

Are replacement pads for R10s still available
Well I'd be interested in a 3rd party replacement set of earpads for the R10, HE90 and HE60. I have an unused pair of R10 earpads that could be used as a template - I also have a used pair of HE90 earpads as well. --Jatinder- jatinder

Sony MDR-R10 what is the fuss about
The soundstage on the SA5000 is much narrower than with the CD3000. Some tracks that I've played have a wider soundstage - so I assume that the SA5000 is being much more faithful to the recording than the CD3000 in this respect. --Jatinder- jatinder

Sony MDR-R10 what is the fuss about
Hi Leeperry, It's still too early to comment meaningfully about the SA5000 as I've only had it a week. At the moment, it has the same high-frequency issues as the Qualia (less pronounced though) and fits a whole lot better & tighter - sounds great at the moment. I'm hoping that it will...- jatinder

Sony MDR-R10 what is the fuss about
Leeperry: Re isolation - for me (I wear specs) the R10 has a similar level of isolation to the CD3000 - not that I've ever tried to "analyze" it. I often click my fingers about a foot away from the headphones whilst listening with music to check that I don't have the music too loud. ...- jatinder

Sony MDR-R10 what is the fuss about
Quote: No, the soundstage on the R10 is more closed-in and more natural than with the CD3000 - much more natural sounding. Re mids - The 2 presentations are so different that the CD3000 sounds positively lean in comparison to the mid-band lift that the R10 has. Additionally, the...- jatinder

Sony MDR-R10 what is the fuss about
Quote: Hi Leeperry, I think I can relate to what you say about the CD3000 - it's soundstage is less natural than the R10s. With the CD3000 - I sometimes feel that the soundstage is unnatural. I'm hardly, if ever, bothered by this. With the R10 - the presentation...- jatinder

Sony MDR-R10 what is the fuss about
Hi there, Yes - I agree with you - N/D differences are easy to say - difficult to hear. However, I've owned both headphones from new for 12 years and still own them. I've tried them with my own sources and my own amps (X-Cans V1, Sugden headamp, EAR HP4, EarMax Pro Anniv, Angstrom 1-box...- jatinder

Sony MDR-R10 what is the fuss about
I've owned a CD3000 and an R10 from new - for close to 12 years now. There is no comparison to be made IMO. To my ears there is a night and day difference between the CD3000 and the R10. Neither headphone is "neutral" but what the R10 has, is a "naturalness" that is missing from most...- jatinder
