I like the amp but it's probably 15 years old. I see new amps come out with better components for less money. I just wonder if my money is better spent on a new amp in the $200 range or just better tubes? Also, I've seen people recommend solid state amps for AKG cans rather than tube. 

As the title states, would I be better off investing money in a completely different (and newer design) amp or is X-cans still relevant given right tubes? I'm not interested really in updating the internal components. Please see my signature for current gear with the addition of the AKG K7XX...

Another possible interest here!    I went to a meet couple of years ago, it was at the UW campus...   I'm itching to get another set of headphones and/or dac but would like to try on something before spending the money.

Be careful with e-cost. I once ordered sennheiser headphones from them and it took them a long while just to get them in stock. If you want them fast, make sure they have them in stock.

Yea, I went through some more topics and decided to go with the olives. I'll try them out since they cost less than the yellow foamies. I ordered the medium size. Anybody know how they compare to the original black ety foam tips?
