??? I think there's some confusion here: either on my part, your part, or both... There isn't any "balanced output that isn't a....4-conductor". Balanced means separate and isolated ground leads for each channel, necessitating 4 conductors. The adapter you linked to is not for a "balanced...

You are absolutely correct.

I don't know of any manufacturer that makes an adapter to go from balanced on the DAP end to single-ended on the headphone side. That is prohibited by most (if not all) amp manufacturers, and would void any warranty in the event the amp is damaged.

That adapter doesn't break the cardinal rule of converting single-ended to balanced. Here's the lowdown: DAP/Single Ended output (TRS connector) > Adapter > Balanced Headphone Cable = OK. DAP/Balanced output (TRRS connector) > Anything other than balanced (i.e. Single-ended TRS)...

Update and clarification: I received a Thunderbolt cable today (Apple branded) and am at present using Mango DAC mode (in Android) and the battery indicator shows charging. Haven't tried pure Mango mode yet, but it appears that it will charge while in DAC mode in Android. It just needed more...

Not helpful. See below quote as an example of a helpful post. I think I've found a possible solution. My P51 has a Thunderbolt 3 port which (according to specs) should be good for 3A output. I've just got to find a suitable cable.

All USB ports on a P51 are 3.0, and I have it plugged into the "always on" port.
