Audio-GD NFB-12
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to document this issue. It's been a long time since I or anyone has posted on this thread, but here it goes...Maybe it helps someone, maybe it doesn't. I recently experienced a power outage, which was resolved within an hour by the utility company. When this...- frahengeo

AUDEZE LCD XC
Hi Folks, It has been quite some time since being on Head-Fi. I bought the original iteration of LCD-XC several years back (6 or 7 years ago). The only improvement I did was upgrade the cable, since the factory ones were too short. It seems like a lot has changed with the XCs since the...- frahengeo

Hi Everyone, Haven't posted here or anywhere on head-fi for a while... Here is an updated pic: Still have many of the same components from several years ago. I used to run the TA-N/E90ES Amp/Pre-Amp combo, but it had to go. The combo was built well and looked nice, but the sound never quite...- frahengeo

That looks fantastic!! One thought though...I guess one could argue that since Pioneer designed the system/rack, heat dissipation from the Amp should not be a concern, but I'm still alarmed by the Amp not having enough breathing room.- frahengeo

I recommend C3 cables as well. I went with their entry level Canare Star Quads, and have been happy with it. Been meaning to pick up some cables for my HD800s too, but the stock cable on those aren't as bad as the stock ones for Audeze.- frahengeo

Oppo Sonica DAC (an affordable ES9038PRO Sabre DAC)
Thorough and informative review. This DAC is definitely on my radar for sure. Not trying to nitpick here, but Mother was written/sung by Andy Summers of The Police.- frahengeo

The STR-GX9ES is a nice 2-channel receiver. Definitely well built, and built around the time when Sony was still building quality audio gear. I've heard an GX10ES driving a pair of KEF 104/2 that sounded great, and the GX9ES should sound similar. In the spirit of Head-Fi, however, I cannot...- frahengeo

A few years ago, I used to run a 2238B with a pair of Senn HD800, and was surprised at how well it sounded.- frahengeo

My vote would be to spend a little more for a Bryston BHA-1. It plays very well with the XCs. Other benefits include: Fully balanced design, balanced (4-pin, dual 3-pin) and single-ended output, and a 20 yr warranty.- frahengeo

New headphone amplifier from Bryston
The only difference that I hear between BAL and SE is the output level. The BAL is louder.- frahengeo

Sorry I mis-understood. Installing pre-outs doesn't sound very economical never mind feasible.- frahengeo

The pre-out on receivers, and integrated amps is intended to give you the option to connect a separate power amp (typically a more powerful amp). The receiver/integrated amp then becomes the pre-amp/control amp.- frahengeo
