Do headphones and IEMs do damage faster to your hearing?

Quote:   That's my understanding. I have a decent amount of education in biology, but from what I understand, since "pressure" and "sound" are literally the exact same thing and the pressure from a wave is what you actually hear, increased pressure from IEMs is why they generally are...

    Hifiman HE5-LE Amp conundrum.

I have a pair of HE-5LE's and I have a FiiO DAC/amp combo (with the E7/E9), and it has perfectly adequate power for the 5LEs. However, my friend's Woo Audio 3 with upgraded tubes couldn't even drive it at all, staying quiet till 12 o'clock and then immediately turning into a muddy nightmare of...

Sennheiser HD 650 for PC = Overkill?

I'd say get the E7 and E9. I use that combo to drive a set of HiFiMAN HE-5LE's (which require a lot more to drive than the HD650's), and they sound beautiful, and I use them for gaming as well and they obliterate my past "pre-headfi" gaming audio setups. The E9 is a solid state amp, which is...

CA- Venice meet at our beach Home again....The last time was fun.

Unfortunately, I woke up this morning to a handy dandy note from my sister, letting me know that she took my car to move some stuff from her apartment hours away and would bring it back tomorrow. Sigh. Hopefully another time!

I'll probably arrive at about 10 or 11 as I have had a long week and another pre 8 am day is not something I can get up for haha. See everyone there hopefully! I can't stay until 6 but hopefully I'll be able to put a couple of hours into listening around.

@esteban92, I am not sure about many other amps, but if it is a solid state amp it should be fine. The E9 isn't a tube amp, so it isn't a problem, but if you have a tube amp it needs to be a good one. I am not really an expert on tube amps but look around the forums and see what people say they...

I was in the same boat as you, and was dissatisfied with the K701's as well. Look at the HiFiMan line, the choice I made was the HE-5LE's and they were a brilliant choice, especially so for the money. You can read my review of them if you want. Look into them, try them out if you can.

CA- Venice meet at our beach Home again....The last time was fun.

Hey, I would actually love to come by. I just started in this here headphone game and I have a E7/E9 Combo and a pair of HiFiMan HE-5LE's. I might be free on the 7th, and I live in the Palisades so it wouldn't be much of a drive either. I'm happy to bring the 5LE's if anyone is interested in...

Why do 90% of the people use iPod/iPhone as their portable player?

Quote: The 128 comment was laden with sarcasm only because plenty of my older music is in 128 from itunes haha. To be honest unless it's on my HE-5LE's and turned up, 128 is totally palatable, and I enjoy it as long as I can't hear any hisses or lack of quality. I just don't see why...

I do not consider myself an accomplished or experienced audiophile, so I will avoid getting too deep into terminology or discussions that I feel I have no place in. However, I do consider myself a human with ears, and I feel qualified to review these. I received my HiFiMAN HE-5LE’s as an...

    LCD-2 vs. HE-5LE

Quote: After trying, here is a key piece of information: tube amps are a whole different ballgame with planar magnetics. His rather expensive Woo 3 with upgraded tubes and a very nice DAC were quiet at 12:00 and any further started to just clip and get muddy and at full were a comfortable...

Why do 90% of the people use iPod/iPhone as their portable player?

To me, this is an obvious question. It works with the iTunes music I've had for a while, does not necessitate I carry around a separate device for phone and music, and is lightweight and well-polished. I have a $1000+ home setup for listening to my music. I take sound quality seriously. But when...

    LCD-2 vs. HE-5LE

Quote: I own the HE-5LE's and they reach comfortable listening volume at between 9:00 and 11:00 on my FiiO E9. My friend has a Woo Audio 3 with upgraded tubes that I have yet to try it on but with the E9 it is easy to drive. I am unsure of how this may compare to other amps, but the E9...
