Long short, this is a terrible DAP lol I bought it based on this thread other reviews. I read the first 50 pages looking for solutions to trying to get the most out of the DX170. My background in DAP has been with Cowon DAPs, loved everyone especially the J10. I'm not trying to be negative...

Testing the range of VE headphones with the Cowon Plenue D, I'm very impressed with the Monk ... So I've ordered 2 pairs :)  Looking forward to testing the Asura and Duke.

Depends on the Cans or earphone he is using .. sounds like he will be Ok :)

After a few hours of testing and comparing both the J3 and the Plenue D, under very similar settings they sound very similar .... :)    does anyone else get this impression ?

    Going from a J3 so far so good .... Most of my listening has been with Blox earbuds and the MC2 really shines.   Sadly my HD650s (Impedance 300 ohms) don't shine at all, very noticeable distortion at 90% Volume ... 85% vol it's fine but too low sound, your going to need an amp to drive...
