The Audio Technica W3000ANV Thread
After being out of the hobby for a while, I finally caved in and bought a pair of these from A2A (my first headphone-related purchase in a couple of years). I'll consider it a little present to myself after a good 2012. I've been eyeballing the ATH-W1000Xs for the last six months but the...- EtherealApril

Head-fi Metal Heads: Some help please
You might also be interested in Saturnus, although they have a mixture of clean (mostly spoken) and growled vocals.- EtherealApril

Have you ever listened to a song over and over for days
I'm guilty. I often become obsessed with a new song and play it repeatedly over the course of a few days. Right now, it's Riverside's Acronym Love. The sad thing is, I usually end up overplaying the song and don't end up listening to it for months afterwards.- EtherealApril

Brisbane, Australia meet [July]
tisbob and MomijiTMO, thanks for the PMs. I'm definitely interested, though it looks like I'll probably be over in NZ early in July. For a venue, I suggest looking at schools or unis, which usually have rooms available for a reasonable rate. I'll be able to bring: RWA Isabellina (USB) DAC...- EtherealApril

AD2000 - My Impressions/Review
MomijiTMO, nice review of the AD2000s. They're a pair of phones that I've been interested in listening to for a long time and, from what I've read, sound perfect for my tastes. Would you consider letting me have a listen to your pair some time? Our music tastes also seem to be pretty similar.- EtherealApril

Interesting way to clean vinyl
A commercial product that works the same way was presented on an Australian TV show, the "Record Revirginizer".- EtherealApril

MESHUGGAH: Appreciation Thread
I'm a big fan. They're a difficult band to get into but rewarding if you give them a chance. Just saw them play at Soundwave on Saturday. The kickdrum in Bleed was enough to make you think you were having a heart attack.- EtherealApril

Electronic-Prog-Rock-Something?
OSI are probably the closest thing I can think of to electronic prog-rock. Have only heard snippets of their earlier stuff and I understand Portnoy's now given up his place for Gavin Harrison but I like their most recent album, Blood. Riverside are great, but their sound's far too "organic"...- EtherealApril

The dreaded coffee plop sound
Sorry to hear about your UEs. A friend had a similar experience with his mobile phone. He was driving to uni while eating breakfast in his car and had a cup of water in the cup holder in the centre console. Someone called him on his phone and he pulled it out of his pocket and answered it...- EtherealApril

What live concerts have you been to in the past year?
I've mostly been going to smaller smaller local shows (don't know if you can call them concerts) but some of the bands I've seen is the past year are: Porcupine Tree (this past Friday night) The Mars Volta Opeth Dream Theater (Pain of Salvation were the support act) The Kidney Thieves (a...- EtherealApril

Best Extreme Metal Headphones?
I like my ER-6s with the extreme stuff. I bought them years ago before the ER-6is came out and haven't felt a need to upgrade with all the new phones coming out. I think you'll find extreme metal works well with a fast, light sound without over-emphasised bass. ER-4P or ER-6i would probably be...- EtherealApril

For how long can a vocalist scream?
I was listening to Lateralus in the car today and the scream in The Grudge was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the title of this thread. It's definitely the longest scream I've heard.- EtherealApril
